Hi, my fuji fine pix camera has absolutely no power, i need it tommorow night for a big family event and it wont work. When i try and use charge it also there are no lights etc indicating a charge. A few month back i got my bag wet and the camera was in there. The camera worked after that when it was dried out. Now it does not, is there anything i can try at home to get it to work ??? :/ thankyou.

If the camera got wet the way you described, it can run for days, weeks, and months, but even with your best efforts to dry it out, moisture still got in there and caused it to fail. I have worked on countless pieces over the years that got wet and in almost every situation they would eventually break down or not work properly, because the moisture corroded the ic pins and worked it's way in the casing of the chips. There is nothing you can do to salvage the camera especially with the time frame you are talking about, my advise is replace the camera for a new one.

Fuji troubleshooting

Doesn't sound like the camera is the problem. It could be the battery or the battery charger, though. Manufacturers do produce bad products sometimes (the battery could have a bad connection in it, or the charger might simply not be trickling power to the batter correctly). When you say you "haven't used it in a while" though, how long do you mean? Most rechargeable batteries do actually lose their ability to hold a charge over time, even if you aren't using them. So even though that battery has only been used a couple times, if it's 2 or 3 years old, it's at the end of its life and likely is dead. The same thing happens to laptop computer batteries, remote controlled cars, cellular phones, etc.

I would suggest checking eBay for a replacement battery. You can very often find a non-name-brand one that works exactly like the Fuji one did (and sometimes even find original Fuji ones for much less than retail as well). In any event, the battery is definitely the first thing I would change out. It is absolutely the most likely culprit of your trouble.

Lense stuck in out position

Hi. If your camera is turning on with the lens stuck out. Turn the camera on, and without turning it off, open the battery door, and take the batteries out. Leave it for about 1-2 minutes and try again. This process is call power reset. Usually works. Good Luck.
