Black screen hi, my finepix z1 was working fine but i didnt charge it for 3 weeks and it whent dead, when i charged it again and turned it on the screen was black and the pictures i take are purpuish and can hardly tell what it is, i can still see the old pictures and downloaded to my computer fine, i tried to reset it and still wont work, i took the battery off and put it back in and still wont work or record anything

Could possibly be battery problems - try re-charging or replacing.

The rechargable batteries are no good and need to be replaced.

The reason it doesn't charge properly is probably due to age of the battery. Over time, they charge less and less. You need to replace the battery.

DSC Mode means you can access your card.

There is not enough room to explain every step to moving your pictures to the pc. Please refer to your manual to learn how to do this. If you have any other questions you can leave me a comment.

Generally Lithium-Ion camera batteries will last around 1-2 years. The batteries have a "memory", meaning that after a certain number of charges they begin to hold less of a charge. If your camera is still under the manufacturers warranty you can contact your manufacturer for assistance, otherwise most places you can buy digital cameras carry replacement batteries, but it is definitely time for a new one.

there are a sensor that tell the camera to turn on when slid open..it may need replaced!

the camera won't charge from your laptop via the usb connection.
it needs to be charged on the mains.

I had this same problem a couple of months ago, battery appeared to be charging but got emptier and emptier, tried different chargers and no improvement etc.

Friend has same phone, used their battery in my phone which was charged and phone was working fine, meanwhile, charged my battery in their phone and it charged fine and then for 2 months no repeat of the problem...

then last week, it happened again, trouble is this time i'm on school holidays and can't use the friend's phone for another 3 weeks!
