I washed several loads of laundry yesterday. This morning I noticed water on the laundry room floor. I opened the door ( Whirlpool Duet Front-Loading) and water poured out on the floor. The tub of the washer was half full of water.

It probally mildew growing inside the wash tub and associated water connnections like the pump housing, drain hoses. Mildew growth is common problem with front load washers. You can try to reduce the occurance of mildew by leaving the door and soap dispenser door open when not in use. Also wipe with door gasket with a rag to dry it.
To kill the mildew in the machine wash an empty load with hot water and vineagar about once a month. Repeat as neccessary. There other products to help reduce mildew such as affresh. Hope this helps you.

Found the tip on another thread of this site. Remove the 3 star screws located below the access panel that's below the door and clean the trap/filter to the left of the pump. Don't do like me and try to empty as much water first or you'll have an inch of water in your laundry roon when you twist off the cap.
the vacuum which is to be created between the door and the tub must be not working......try cleaning the door ..some unwanted things may be blocking this to happen
If the water has not completely emptied, this wont allow the door to open. Check by lowering the outlet hose into a bowl. If a fair amount of water comes the problem is likely to be a pump blockage
