The hold button on my PSP is not working. I may have dropped it once or twice but the hold button was working fine after that. It was until now, that when i use my psp, the L and R buttons start changing the songs while i'm on the train or when i'm reaching in my pocket... even though my PSP is on hold. It's seriously a pain in the **** but i really hope it's not a physical malfunction (as to a digital malfunction)... i really hope not... i don't wanna spend money to get it repaired... it's hard enough to spend money on food. if anyone knows how to fix this, please say so!

To do a factory restore on the PSP just hold the power button up until the system fully powers off. Once the system is fully powered off hold all at once start + select + square + triangle, while holding these four buttons turn on the PSP, once the PSP is on let go of these buttons, it should take about a mintue or so for the PSP to load back up. You should see the settings you first saw when you first turned on your PSP.
To reformat the memory stick just go to settings > System Settings > Format Memory Stick,
be aware by doing this you will lose all the information stored on your memory stick, including music, pictures, games, etc.... Hope this helps, best of luck, don't forget to rate :)
hold the power button until it beeps once this is known as a soft reset. then do the setup and see if it works. If not hold the power button until it beeps twice this is the master reset. select restore system settings and try it again. If it still doesnt work your Hard drive may be damaged. If you replace your hard drive and still have the problem its your motherboard. a new HD will run you anywhere from 39.99 to 129.99 depending on the GB you want a new motherboard would run you anywhere from 20.00 to 40.00
You'll need to hard reset your PSP and restore it to its factory settings. Once this is done, your PSP should work perfectly.
Hold the power button on the right side of your PSP down until the device completely powers off. Wait at least five seconds after the power is off before proceeding to the next step.
Press and hold the Select and Start buttons located in the bottom right corner of the PSP.
Press and hold the Square and Triangle buttons (located on the directional pad) while continuing to hold the Select and Start buttons.
Press the power button while holding these four buttons. When the flash (logo) screen appears, you can release the four buttons and your PSP will be reset to its factory settings and the screen will no longer be blank.

The easiest way to reset the PSP is to do a hard-reset. This means holding the power switch in the up position for around ten seconds. This will then shut off the PSP. You may then need to flick the power button either once or twice for the device to come back on.

Try doing a hard reset by holding the power switch in the up position for around ten seconds.
This will then shut off the PSP. You may then need to flick the power
button either once or twice for the device to come back on. after a hard-reset, I always
have to press the power on button twice to get the PSP to fire up.
