Model MZD2665HEW The unit will not produce ice anymore. It does put out water. I have observed the following If I hold the door switch in the closed position- I can put the ice maker into cube mode and the large auger will turn when I press the front door water/ice switch (gray pad). I do not see the small auger turning within the ice making tray. I also don't see any water flowing into the tray from the rear fill tube. Questions- #1 Is there a pump/electric motor to fill the tray located elsewhere in the fridge? #2 should the ice tray auger be running when the main ice auger runs? I am a former electronics technician for 6 years. If someone can give me a few pointers I am sure I can fix this. Thanks in advance!

SOURCE: Ice Maker Overflowing

i would recommend changing the water valves as they may be sticking or leaking now you can take the icemaker loose get a small baby bottle short the terminals to cycle water fill catch it with the bottle and see how much water it dumps should be about 4 ounces if the valve leaks will over fill the ice maker over a period of time say the valve is leaking a few drops at a time and the bail arm has the icemaker shut off because its touching ice in the bin but the water just keeps dripping down the fill tube till it runs over did you replace the whole icemaker or just the motor module

SOURCE: auto ice maker

reduce water fill, small adjustment screw on side of power head, clockwise for decrease, maximum one full turn. if that fails, remove i/m and check for cracked mold, fill with water and place on level table under paper towel. if ok, replace module.

SOURCE: Refrigerator MAYTAG MSD2454GRQ: Ice maker not

Well, I would think $150 or more depending on exactly what all needs to be replaced but it will depend on the area, it will cost so much for them just to come to your house and then depending on what they do, it will cost a certain amount. Make sure to get estimates before they come and tell them what you have done. many times a part can be bought cheaper from partstore.com or partselect.com

You may have to remove the back panel of the unit in order to get the cracked part detached.

If you want or need anything else let me know, the home page will give you a way to search for a repair service if you should decide to go that route, good luck

Does not dispense ice or water

Check to make sure you have sufficient water flow through the supply line. If water flow is good then listen closely to the solenoid valve when the water dispenser is actuated. If there is no click the solenoid probably needs to be replaced.

The Ice machine wont produce ice.

here are some things to try first before calling repair person.
unplug the unit, if you can remove the unit , do it., IF NOT, JUST REMOVE THE ICE TRAY UNIT, leave unplugged for 30 minutes.
make sure the water is following, see if you get cold glass of water, this means the system has water, and IF NOT, check the line frozen or damaged,
after 30 minutes plug the unit back in, install the ice tray properly secured in place, make sure the leaver flush against the ice maker
it may take 1 hour or more and go look see if it producing ice
if it is not producing ice than call a repair person.

Not making ice

What is the model number of your unit?

I just connected the ice maker water line to the unit. The Frig has electrical power and ice is making. My problem is that the controls at the front of the Frig is not working. I cannot dispense the ice...

Without a model number here how they usually operate. The DOOR / LIGHT switch disables water and ice in door functions. I.e. it is not supposed to operate with the door open. If the switch is open... i.e the light is not working door open, (Switch has 2 functions Light and Water / ive in door operation) Then the control panel / water / ice in door will all not work either. It is possible for the light to work while the CP / H2o / Ice do not work. Usually if a door switch fails the light stops working also. It is not always the case.

Try holding to door switch plunger depressed and see if your CP works and water in door work. DO NOT try ice in door as you can damage things.

If you respond with a model number and brand; I will see what I can dig up for you use while troubleshooting your unit. Expect to see parts data also.

My ice maker has stopped producing ice - I have a whrlpool fridge freezer

Causes are:
1. Check shut off arm- If it fails to move due to lot stored ice cubs, remove some quantity of ice cubs.
2. Check the water pressure. Due to lack of water, it may stopped producing ice.
3.Check freezer temp: must be around 5 degree.
4.Check water hose has no leak. due to scarcity of water, ice maker could stop making ice cubes.
5. If water valve defective ice cube could not be made. To check the valve please follow this step.
Locate your ice maker, remove the ice bucket. Pull the coveroff the end of the ice maker. Locate the holes "V" and "L". Take a paper clip(jump clip) and tape. Straight the clip and put tape in middle. Hold the tapedside and insert the clip into "V" and "L". This sends the power to watervalve. If water goes into ice maker, water valve is good.Hope, is it helpful?

Whirlpool gold moder GC5SHEXN503 side by side-ice maker not producing ice anymore--water dispenser works fine--laser lites seem ok---no ice jam--no water filling ice molds

Put some water in the ice maker and see if it will kick a batch out. If it does make a batch but does not make any more then replace the water valve. NOTE: the water valve is a dual purpose valve that supplys water in the door and supplys the ice maker. If the ice maker does not kick out a batch then something is wrong with the ice maker. One easy component to replace is the ice mold thermostat.

Side by side refrigerator

The ice maker is not producing ice or not enough ice

Refrigerator connected to a water supply and the supply
shutoff valve turned on?
Connect refrigerator to water
supply and turn water shutoff valve fully open.
Kink in the water source line? A kink in the line can reduce
water flow. Straighten the water source line.
Ice maker turned on? Make sure wire shutoff arm or switch
(depending on model) is in the ON position.
New installation? Wait 24 hours after ice maker installation
for ice production to begin. Wait 72 hours for full ice
production.
Large amount of ice recently removed? Allow 24 hours for
ice maker to produce more ice.
Ice cube jammed in the ice maker ejector arm?
Remove ice from the ejector arm with a plastic utensil.
Reverse osmosis water filtration system connected to
your cold water supply?
This can decrease water pressure

OR
The water dispenser will not operate properly

Freezer door closed completely? Close the door firmly. If it
does not close completely, see “The doors will not close
completely.”
Refrigerator connected to a water supply and the supply
shutoff valve turned on?
Connect refrigerator to water
supply and turn water shutoff valve fully open.
Is the water pressure at least 30 psi? The water pressure to
the home determines the flow from the dispenser. See “Water
Supply Requirements.”
Kink in the home water source line? Straighten the water
source line.
New installation? Flush and fill the water system.
Water filter installed on the refrigerator? The filter may be
clogged or incorrectly installed.
Is a reverse osmosis water filtration system connected to
your cold water supply?

GOOD LUCK TO YOU!!! LET ME KNOW IF THIS SOLVED YOUR PROBLEM

No water at the door

If the solenoid valve doesn't click anymore then it's either bad or not activating anymore. Check that the switch behind the water lever is not broken or has fallen loose inside the door panel. You may be able to put a finger up there and try to push it without using just the lever. (sometimes slamming glasses into that lever over time breaks the switch attaching pins causing the switch to fall off inside). Take the front panel off and visually check that switch itself to see if it is still being held in place. Activate it by hand (not the lever method) and see if that water solenoid valve clicks again and water flows. If you have no water to both the Ice Maker and door dispensor at all (clogged filter?) check the main water line for clogs/debris, etc. If you are making ice still then water is at least getting to the ice maker and that means only the door water valve or switch is bad. The link below may help you "see" inside with the different diagrams, etc. http://www.partselect.com/MultiModels.aspx?ModelNum=GSL25JFP&searchTerm=&RefineSearch=0
