If you are using analog video output to connect to your tv set and accidentally selected progressive scan from the setup menu you will loose the analog signal output.
Turn the unit on with no dvd inside and after the " no disc" message press stop (on the front pannel button) holding it for about 5 seconds. It will restore the original progressive scan configuration (value= no).

I didn't realize there is a separate hook up in the back for progressive scan. I switched the wires in the back from the tv to dvd and all was fine. Oops!

Zenith DVT412 System Not working at all

Hello Nibas,

You may have damaged the laser diode or one of the biasing components, you will need to take this to the shop to have it repaired. This is due to the fact that the laser output has to bee measured and you don't have the equipment to do that. This is not a case of resetting the DVD player which on this unit only covers if the unit is in progressive scan mode (how to reset from progressive scan). I know this is not what you may have wanted to hear but it is the truth. In any event you will have to take this unit to a repair shop.

I hope this helps,
Thank you,

My home theater got stuck in progressive scan mode

I had this problem, it's a real pain. You need to turn the system on and goto Setup Mode, then count the number of tiems you would need to scroll down and reset it. You will see no picture, so you ahve to actually cound the number of clicks down and over, you are doing it blind, but it will work.

Turn off progressive scan mode

If you set progressive scant On by accident, you must reset the unit. Remove any disc from the unit and close the disc tray. See that "disc" is displayed on the display window. Now press STOP and hold it for more than 5 seconds before releasing it. The video output will be restored to the standard setting and picture will once again be visible on a conventional analog TV or monitor.

No picture but has sound

Hi If your t.v.has built-in blue screen when there is no signal, then the DVD may have been accidentally switched to progressive scan mode, or defaults to that setting if new. If your T.V. is not capable of displaying in progressive scan mode, you will just get a blue screen. If you have an older tv, without blue screen, then connect it to that, and if you get a black and white split screen when you turn on the DVD, then progressive scan is the problem. Check the manual for the DVD player for the procedure to get out of that mode, and it should then work. If you still have no video, and you are using the yellow composite video jack on the back of your DVD player, then it must be brought in for service. Good Luck!
