I had this problem, it's a real pain. You need to turn the system on and goto Setup Mode, then count the number of tiems you would need to scroll down and reset it. You will see no picture, so you ahve to actually cound the number of clicks down and over, you are doing it blind, but it will work.

What does progressive scan mean?

Progressive Scan produces higher video quality than Interlaced Scan. If your TV is progressive scan compatible - and nearly all HDTV and DTV sets are - then a progressive scan DVD / Blu-Ray player / Home Theater System can give you a significant increase in perceived vertical resolution and a more detailed and film-like picture.

You can always switch to Interlace Scan mode (and vice versa) via the on-screen menus at any time if you prefer.

Toshiba SD-V55HT stuck in Progressive scan mode.

Hello

Progressive Scan Video provides the highest resolution
pictures with less flicker and line structure

If you are using the COMPONENT/PROGRESSIVE

SCAN VIDEO OUT jacks, but are connecting the

DVD/VCR Receiver to a standard (analog) television,
set Progressive Scan to Off

If you are using the Component Video jacks for

connection to a TV or monitor that is compatible with a
progressive scan signal, set Progressive Scan to On.
To ON and OFF this function, Press "Setup" to display the setup screen.
Surf through, and hilight "Progressive scan" and press "Ok or Enter"
Here you can set this function ON or OFF. If you wnat to get it OFF, select OFF and press Enter.
OK.

Hi,
You need to turn On Progressive Scan mode in home theater system to get video output in component video out ports so tv can show its picture.
Progressive Scan mode can be turned On by going into setup menu of home theater, details are available in user manual.
Thanks.

Insignia Home Entertainment System - DVD settings

You can try unplugging the unit for at least a minute. If that doesn't work, what a CSR told me to do to reset my unit was unplug it and while unplugged, push and hold the power button for at least 30 seconds. I hope this helps.

I'm not getting any color pictures in my home theater system

Well, assuming were talking about a dvd player with dvd's,you dont specify what type of cables you are using to conect it to your tv, it appears that it has something to do with Progressive Scan been turned on. Progressive Scan is a feature built in your dvd player, wich by using it, it would give you a better picture//resolution on your tv, you need to use Component or HDMI cables to hook up the dvd to your tv if you want this settings, but if you are using composite RCA cables (Red,White & Yellow) and the Progressive funtion is turned on by accident, it may give you a split screen, black & white, or no picture problems. Also if you are using Component (Blue, Green & Red) cables, if one of them is unplug, the picture can be out of colors, or no picture. Check this things, if not, write back with more details about your set up.

Thanks...

Stuck in progressive scan mode.

Based on your description, it seems that you set the DVD to progressive scan output, but have it hooked up to a TV (CRT) that cannot accept this signal. Because the TV can't accept the signal, you can't view the DVD menu to change the setting back to interlaced.

On the back panel you have "Component Video Out" for output via component cables, but there is also a yellow RCA connection labeled "Video Out". This is a "composite video" connection which does not support progressive scan. Try disconnecting the component cables and connect the composite video to a TV. The DVD will likely (hopefully) send a compatible signal (480i) through this connection, which will give you access to the menu.
