The disc is either scratched or the xbox 360 drive laser is not reading it properly which is common for them. the only way to fix is replace the drive with the same exact one and swap the boards on them. or you can take apart the one you have now and slightly adjust the laser eye. i have adjusted a laser eye before and it worked afterwards. there are several tutorials on how to do this on the net. hope this helps let me know if i you need more help

How do I fix my xbox game the xbox keeps saying unreadable disc clean with a soft cloth and restart the console.

If you get the error with just one game, but not others, unfortunately it is likely damage to the disc. If it is under warranty, or if you bought it at a return-friendly place, maybe you can get a replacement. If the system is giving you this error with several games, it is likely the disc reader in your Xbox. The Xbox 360 has a well-known issue with DVD drive failure over time. If your system is still under warranty, or sometimes even if not (because this was such a big problem for Xbox), Microsoft may repair it. Try calling them and patiently discussing it. If it is not under warranty, and you are good with repair work, try this: http://hardandsoftgaming.wordpress.com/2011/03/12/replacing-a-faulty-xbox-360-dvd-drive-firmware-flash-or-circuit-board-transplant/

Put mario cart in and go through until it says error occured eject and turn off etc but it will not turn off

This error occurs if you have a problem with the disc. This normally happens if the wii console cannot read or recognize the game disc and freezing usually occurs after the error. You need to restart the wii console if this happens. Also check the disc for any visible damage and try cleaning if dirt is present. If this happens on all or majority of your games, there could be a problem with your wii's disc drive, but if it only occurs on a specific game then the problem is with the disc itself. Good luck!

Loading disc, system refusing to read disc, continues saying "open tray"

Hi there,

I did a bit of research for you on this subject, here's what I've found:
The first thing that you want to do is restart your console. If you can't restart, simply unplug your console, and plug it back in.
The next thing you want to do is check all the cables on the back of your Xbox. If you have to, pull out each one, and put them back in place.
The next step you'll want to try is by removing the hard drive, and putting it back in. If you have another one laying around, try placing that one instead to see if that works.
If you've been trying the open disk error with the same game, try putting in a newer game. It may be the game's problem.
The last thing that you want to try BUT keep in mind that it's going to void your warranty, so do it at your own risk! You'll want to open up your Xbox, clean out the dust on the inside, and clean the DVD lenses with a Q TIP, or a cotton bud.

360 will not read a disc it says its reading for a sec then goes to open tray

sometimes you have to restart the xbox ... other things could be scratches or smudges close to the center ring that are causing the error. I have this problem when playing dvds then going to games or vice versa. just restart..

Disc read error

Disc Read Error generally means that the game disk cannot be read by your console.

Reasons for Disc Read Error
1. Disk surface scratched or smudged.
2. Disk surface dirty.
3. Lens surface dirty.

Here is what you can try doing.

1. Check the game disc for any scratches or smudges on the surface of the game disc, try to clean them off by using a non-abrasive cotton cloth.

2. If the PS2 console is lying down, please set the console to on its side or if it's on its side set it to flat position, restart the console and then try game again. Always ensure the PlayStation 2 is in a cool, well ventilated place.

3. Remove and reinsert the Memory card of your PS2, restart the console then try running the game again.

Other troubleshooting that you can try.

Change the Disc speed of the PS2 DVD and then try again.

Start the PS2 with no disc in a drive. Press the "triangle" button on the controller.
Use the up and down buttons on the controller to select "Playstation Driver” and press the "triangle" button on the controller.
Select Disc speed. If it is set to "Fast," select "Standard"; if it is set to "Standard", select "Fast" and press the "X" button on the controller. Press the "O" button on the controller. Insert the game disc and restart the PS2. Try running the game again.

Turn the Diagnosis On for PlayStation2 to auto detect the best settings.

From the Browser and System Configuration menu. Press the triangle button to select Version. Highlight the Console from the list and press the triangle button - this accesses the next menu option. The Diagnosis will be highlighted. Press the X button to access the options available. Highlight "ON" and press the X button to affect the change. Restart the console and try the game again.

If the above steps does do not solve the error then you would probably have to replace the disc.

Note: If you are using the Slim version of PS2 make sure that the console is properly ventilated and that it should always be in the standing position, as the slim version of PS2 no fan or any other cooling unit unlike the normal PS2.
