It is the compressor that has failed. The hum is it trying to start and the following click is the overload protector opening. What is the temperature where the refrigerator is located? Allow the compressor to cool down before trying to restart it. If it still does not restart after it has cooled off it is done.

Refrig compartment does not cool on my new Kemore Frig.

Check and make sure the fan in the freezer is running. if not possible bad fan. If fan is running, check to see if you have any ice built up on back freezer wall. Normally frost type ice. If so, you may possibly have a bad defrost bi-metal mounted in the freezer section. Next could be a defrost timer control. Model number usally will help more in getting it right.

Kenmore Elite Trio Refrigerator not cooling

No, it is not a failed condenser. You need to see if the compressor is running though. When it runs you shaould have a fan in the freezer running, a fan underneath the fridge running, and the compressor should be running. I would be willing to bet that either the compressor is bad, or the start relay on the compressor.

No air coming into refrig to cool

We pulled the back panel in the freezer and found the coils frozen. We defrosted the coils and the fridge started working. We will be getting a new timer. Thanks

Main food compartment not cooling

you need to replace the fan motor as it blows the cold air to the reefer section and that's why its not cooling the freezers cool both side in all units here's a diag and parts list http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/retrieveModelActionHome!retrieve.action;jsessionid=1TlpO2RMjv7jqHUYRtODnQ**.shcapp3005?modelNumber=596.69272991&pop=flush

Kenmore top freezer unit-refrig not cooling past 50degrees

check freezer for frost build up and if fan blowing, check condenser make sure clean, and fan blowing, check vents in refrig. make sure no blockage, freezer control should be in the middle setting, you can try turning that to Warmer freezer allowing MORE air to refrigertor side.
