Replaced Part No. 1337765 and 1380999, but there is still no ink coming out

Model - IBM Wheelwriter Series II, Cartridge Printer II

One day I was typing just fine - then the ink stopped working. I thought that if I replaced the "Lift-Off Tape" (1337765) and the "Easystrike Superior Write Correctable Ribbon (1380999)", I would be able to type again. I still can not use my typewriter after replacing both parts - is there something else I should be doing?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I love my typewriter, even though I use a desktop!

Thank you!

Hi Make sure the ribbon is moving while you type. Open the top cover and type. As you are typing feel the turn wheel on the ribbon to see if it is turning as you type. If it is moving and you see the impact solenoid pushing the hammer forward. The cap on the print solenoid needs replacement. If you want mail the t.w. to me and I will replace it for $50.00. If you never worked on this machine you need some one to replace it. iT IS NOT AN EASY JOB. LAWRENCE I have been fixing these for 30 years. Its my business.

It sounds like th4e plastic cap on the print solenoid plunger is broken. The part is avail. but a little tricky to replace.

Try cleaning the sensor that lays behind the printwheel that tells the machine the wheel is in the home position, the sensor is in the print carrier. take wheel out and look down and you will see the sensor, clean it off with clean cloth. also put some white out on the top of the printwheel and see if it stops at the same place every time when you turn on and off.

I have an IBM Wheelwriter 15 Series II and the ribbon needed replaced so we replaced it, now when you try to top it just types the top half of the letters??????

Make sure both tabs on the rear of the cartridge are in their respective slots. If that does not work, try pushing down on the black platen roller on both ends. If one side is not locked in place, you will get half letters.

Try a little light oil on the printer shaft. WD40 works well.

Get a new laser printer, or even inkjet. They can be had for under a hundred bucks. It'll cost you that to get someone old enough to know what a wheelwriter is to come and look it...
