SOURCE: How to transfer the video in Mini DV to my computer
I suggest getting the PCI IEEE 1394 also known as FireWire card. Most of the time these Firewire card comes with a Video editing software but verify because you will need some form of video editing s/w to record the video. After recording then you can edit it however you like and transfer to DVD/etc. Always a pain in the as to edit video. I've done it a couple of times. So have fun. I still have not manage to find a Video editing s/w that will do a 5.1 audio or multiple audio tracks (similar to switching between languages)

All you have to do, is make sure your computer has a FireWire card in it, and get a cable and hook it up it will automaticalty reconize the device and open up windows movie maker.

Hi I am Vortash according to the manual for this unit available on http://www.safemanuals.com the unit is quite capable of downloading to a computer but yes it does require the correct software to do so .. you may find this is available from JVC support as a download .. it says that you can download to a usb terminal or a Rs socket with a compatible retail software .. hope this helps Regards Vortash
