Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.
This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

Common Symptoms include....
•Screen looks 3D
•Colors don't line up
•One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
•Screen is bowed or warped.
•TV shuts off after powering on. Power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.

Here are some photos of convergence problems

Hitachi > 53FDX20B blurry picture

I would start 1st by checking all resistors ie.
RK43 2.2 ohm - 2W
RK47 1.5 ohm - 2W
RK51 2.2 ohm - 2W
RK55 1.5 ohm - 2W
RK59 2.2 ohm - 2W
RK63 1.5 ohm - 2W
If I were you I would also replace the convergence chips. From the above thread it's clear that they are of different quality so they may last different lengths of time (B&D is a good place to buy good quality ones).
I found a free pdf service manual for 53FDX20B on a Polish web site: http://instrukcje.elektroda.net/main1750.html
other models try here: http://www.webtronix.ca/hitachi/index.htm

SOURCE: the picture looks 3d and blurry

If you are seeing the three colors seperated you have a problem in the convergence circuit, most likely convergence output IC's and maybe a fuse or fusible resistor.
Would be best to let an expierenced tech repair it as after replacing parts you need to get in to the service menu to do adjustments.

SOURCE: Looks like 3D Picture

You probly have a convergence cicuit failure. Replacing the convergencr IC's will probly fix it.
I recommend a professional repairman to
do it though. Particularly if it needs further adjustments after the IC's are replaced.

The convergence ICs and resistors need replacement. The DPTV305-345 convergence repair kit works for most Phillips rear projection Tvs. The kit contains the two ICs 12 resistors and the CD with detailed instructions

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the settings menu then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move RED and BLUE in all directions - up, down, left, and right. And you should be able to get the grid straight.

If you can't move them in all directions or cant move them far enough your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

Note: If you TV has as flash focus or magic focus button only try pressing the button. If it fails to fix the convergence your need to fix it. See below for a fix

Picture looks 3d how do i fix

If you can access the three projector lenses you will probably find them covered in dust, this shifts the light slightly giving a blurry 3D effect on the screen. Clean the dust off with lens tissue and window cleaner or a cleaner made for glasses and this will restore your picture.

Can you clarify "blurry", is the color skewed or even 3d looking? I am here to help and if you can post a photo here that would help---see attached photos of convergence problems which can fit the description you gave:

Really blurry

Look in main menu for convergence and see if it will adjust--if off either adjustments or a bad chip---picture will look 3d and red or blue outlines around lettering etc.

Mitsubishi ws-55515 intermitent blurry picture

A bad connection somewhere--when it happens if picture is 3d look in menu for convergence and call up the grid of lines--if they are not perfect you have convergence issue which usually requires parts to be replaced.

In this set sometimes the chips will become flaky and convergence will jump in and out.

Tv looks blurry on the right side

You will also find there is colour disorientation in these areas. The reason is that your settings on the york had shifted, also it could be due to failure of the degaussing coil, or if there is any fault with the convergence inside the picture tube which could be a major fault.
Try to degauss, see the picture tube neck for any ring magnets out of alignment, also check the focussing in the rear panel which could have shifted.
