A new lens is only about $150 for an 18-55IS. It is cheaper than a repair

My daughter also has a canon eos film camera with a 18-55 lens.so we tried it on the digital camera and same thing. The shutter button does not click when in AF mode. we tried it again with a new lens at the store and still did not work. It's the older style digital eos (silver body 8 mp) and not work a expensive repair. I am open for any suggestions. i.e cleaning sensors, checking spring action, etc.

After used one shoot, the camera always reset to macro mode.

IF this camera has the Power-Zoom function [as many newer model cameras do] ... then this function is automatic [if there is any "long-time" between shots] as this is designed to PROTECT the delicate lens mechanism against damage if it should be accidentally dropped and/or knocked against an object.
Most modern cameras have similar safety features built-in to protect your considerable $$ investment [including my camera] ...
IF this is still a problem then go to OLYMPUS Website in your country/region and ask their techs for advice ...

The zoom on the sb600 wont adjust accordingly to the zoom of my lens

Three things come to mind.
First, make sure that you are in fully automatic mode - easily done by reset (holding down "Mode" and "On/Off" at the same time. If you hit the "zoom" button it takes it out of automatic zoom and cycles through manual zoom settings until you get to auto again.
Second - make sure the camera is in an auto mode - manual mode could stop it from zooming.
Third - make sure that you don't have the diffuser pulled down. That can keep it from zooming also.
Good luck!

C8080 acting weired

The mode dial switch, zoom and power are all on the same ribbon cable. If you can spray some electrical contact cleaner into the crease of the mode dial, power button and zoom lever, it may be enough to get thing going again. I would try this with the camera inverted to reduce the spread of the cleaner. The upgrade process takes about 35 seconds. Make a file called firmware on your memory card, download the .bin file into the firmware folder and turn on the camera in play mode. The current version of the firmware will appear and an OK, press "OK" and the firmware will start to update. Do this after a factory reset as you stated that it was stable for 30 minutes. Good luck. Contact me pishta68 at hotmail dot com if you have any questions. I have 2 and a "half" of these cameras. I think the most current firmware is v757-78

Zoom Error

We had this problem for about 2 weeks, we discovered that having the camera auto retracted after the "ZOOM ERROR" message, giving the camera couples of light slaps (slap the camera's LCD side and aim the camera down), this fixed the camera right away

Zoom Error

Lens unit has to come out to see whether the problem can be sorted out without spares going in. But unfortunately you have to go from the back on this model which means disconnecting and removing all 3 pc boards and the LCD screen and then loosening the lens mounting to slide the lens out from the back. You may have to dismantle the free lens further once it is out to see exactly what the damage is ( if any ).
