When I open the dryer door, there is water standing in the bottom of the dryer and there is water on the drum. It has a musty smell in the dryer. What is causing this?

This is caused by the biomass built up inside the tub of the machine. This can also be caused by a moldy door boot. You need to scrub your door boot between the tub and the door. Water settles in the bottom of it and molds. Once you clean this, order affresh washer cleaner for your machine. This kills all the biomass built up in the tub and removes the smell. You will put all three tablets in the drum and run on the longest hottest wash available. When this is completed your machine should smell much better. To keep this from getting so bad again... Keep the washer door cracked open between cycles. This keeps the inside from smelling. Hope this helps

There is a very simple way to get rid of unwanted smells. I would suggest use a cup of white vinegar every wash to clean from stale muck and smells inside the machine.

Open the door and run your hand deep inside the door seal. It probally has a slime around it. You can clean this with a bleach water mix. You might need to pull the seal somewhat inside out to get it real clean. Then run an empty load to flush it all out. the water in the unit is normal, to kill the smell when you are done doing wash for the day dampen a rag with bleach and whip down the door gasket. You can buy a cleaner called "afresh" it works as well. If your unit is a neptune check with maytag it might have a recall on the door gasket for growing mould

go to walmart and but these tablets that is suppse to clean out washers i think they should be down in the laundry soap aile

This is a Maytagism for this style of washer.
Quick solution... take a terry towel and wipe out the standing water in the front door seal area and when you're done, toss the towel into the wash load.
Also make the loads a little smaller...it will keep the smell from reoccuring as much.

One downfall of the front load machine that it holds moisture causing musty smell in drum. Try leaving door agar between washes and use a cleaner specific for front load smells 1 every month.

The water will always be in there. It is in between the basket and the drum. That is normal. However if you want to get rid of the musty smell there is a good tip that I have. You can find this on my profile too. Just take about a cup of white vinegar and put it in the drum and wash on hot heavy load. This will clean the tub and all hoses as well. You can do this every few months or even every month if you do a lot of laundry. Put some vinegar into the bleach dispenser too and the fabric softener area as well. This way you will clean everything. It is much cheaper then going out and buying that expensive cleaner made for washing machines. Let me know if you have any other questions and if this was helpful. Make shure to do a cleaning cycle. As well, wipe out the inside, the rubber gasket and the door when done washing for the day. We also have found that
leaving the door "Open" for several hours, when finnished, eliminates any future
