I have a Sony Handycam CCD-TR61. It has worked fine until today. It will not accept a tape. If I close the door without a tape it closes and completely shuts like it is supposed to. But if I put in a tape and close the door it pauses and then ejects the tape. This question was posted but no answer given is there one. I have the same issue

Many times it's a belt slipping. Since the tape isn't pulled into position, it's rewound and the tape ejected. A damaged or mal-adjusted switch could cause this too. The most you can do is blow it out with compressed air to see if that helps. I doubt there are many thing the end user could do.

Tape door won't open or close to release tape

Sony Handycam CCD-TRV58 Hi-8 Analog Camcorder
1. Per the manual on esupport.sony.com
- if the power is disconnected door won't open, and if the battery is the dead the door won't open.
Plug it in and hopefully you can get the tape out.

Did this work?

This cannot be done by you and you need to refer this to a trained camera technician.
Any force applied to remove the cassette will damage the mechanism.

you can do that with EASYCAP usb2, a camcorder video capture card card " USB Convert VHS Tapes CAMCORDER to DVD Capture 0" , on ebay from wanghaostore. 10$. works perfectly, useful to digitalize VHS tapes too.

Sony handy cam Hi 8 ccd trv308

Sony has a recall on some of these ccd imager problems. Contact Sony to see if your model applies, but it sounds like an imager problem on your pal format camcorder. Larry
