You require an A-D Converter. Analogue to Digital Converter box.
Note: Many mini DV cameras can act as a Converter if they have analogue inputs.

This cannot be done by you and you need to refer this to a trained camera technician.
Any force applied to remove the cassette will damage the mechanism.

I'm Sony tech and can help you to solve problem of CCD-TR818 camcorder.
Tap bottom of camcorder few times with your palm gently, now check playback of tape.
If problem still not solved, let me know what error code flashing on top right of view finder screen.

It is a problem with either motor or its belt. If you trying to fix it yourselves, pay special attention while repairing it. The device has a sensitive parts and fine screws.
If you're not confidence, I suggest to bring the camcoder to Sony dealer to has it repaired.

THIS MAY SOUND A LITTLE STRANGE,BUT FIRST, HIT YOUR RESET BUTTON, THEN SET THE CORRECT DATE AND TIME. THEN POWER ON AND OFFA FEW TIMES. IT WORKED FOR ME.GOOD LUCK.

its the same one ...cause I believe there are not more than one ..but in windows its called IEEE bus..in linux greyhound and in MAC firewire ....but it the same plug that came on the camera if it is on this plug..if the camera is with data cable on usb than use usb ...just the program will be different cause you need the driver for fire-wire ..and a import from device program to get the movies if it do not see the card from the camera ...

Does your camcorder have a firewire port?Macs usually have problem recognizing camcorders through USB. SO if it has firewire suggest that you use that port. Also let me know the version of you MAC OS. Panther, Leopord, Snow Leopord?

Yes, first of all thank you for you quick response and you should know that the service you provide is excellent, second to none.

I checked the online manual for the Tr818 and in the trouble shooting section they did have the code C:32:00 which stated to remove the power from the unit...So I disconected the charger and removed the battery for a few seconds. When I restablished the power to the unit the code was no longer there and it worked well after that.

Its dead. Nothing works. I give up.
I'll just try to attack it with a screwdriver tomorrow to get the tape out.
The camera probably is not worth trying to salvage.

Hi,
CCD-TR818 is analog video-8 camcorder and I can help you to take out stuck tape. I have its service manual as below image shows...



Take off side cover of camera, unscrew metal shield that covers video head assembly and unplug one flexible wire that is connected with loading motor as shown and marked in below image...



Now apply 4-5 volts to loading motor terminals so mechanism will start unloading until tape door ejected, take out tape and apply same volts on loading motor in reverse order so mechanism will load again without tape. put back cabinet cover. Job is done.
