Leveling legs during set-up

I just purchased this new roper washer top-load and can't seem to adjust the legs to balance the load. I have checked it with a level but when I run a cycle even empty, the washer vibrates out the door. What am I doing wrong?

If you just purchased this wahser and had it delivered, make sure you remove the shipping bolt(s). There is a large pin inseted in the back of the washer that must be removed BEFORE you attempt to use it. All the balancing in the world will not prevent it from vibrating if the pin is still installed.

If the shipping bolt has been removed, the following link can give you some added pointers on how to level your washer:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3868923-level_whirlpool_top_loading_washer

Whirlpool manufactured top loaders have an auto-leveling mechanism on the rear feet that needs to be adjusted first. Once the rear feet are set, adjust the front to match the back, by turning the front feet. Make sure you check the level side-to-side as well. DO NOT place the level on the washer lid when checking the level as the washer lid is usually bowed and will not give you an accurate reading. Once you have the washer leveled, you can place nuts on the front feet to lock them in place and prevent them from becoming unleveled. The rear mechanism should be rechecked periodically by following the procedures in the link I provided.

If you have any questions, please post back and let me know. I hope this helps you.

Have a whirlpool model.# LSR 8444LQ0 Balance problem anyone know what maybe the cause and a fix it for it?

Check your machine standing level. Adjust it with it's adjustable screw legs.

Check the set of springs or hydraulic shock obsorbers ( depending on mododels) that supends the water drum assembley set.

Check drive belt tension. during high speed spin might slip intermittently.

Finally your loading material!

Wm 2487H. My machine is off balance and shake the house terribly bad. It also has a metalic scraping sound sometimes when the drum spins. I just purchased my LG washer and dryer a couple of months ago. I...

Starting in November 2008--LG introduced "square door" model washers.
These washers will (unlike round door models) perform very well on wood floors.
If the WM2487 washer is on a wood floor--even a tiled wood floor--it will be near impossible to get smooth spin performance.
Some homeowners have had success by adding two layers of 3/4 inch wood under the washer AND dryer.
The following steps were taken:
1) Remove washer & dryer
2) Cut & remove any floor covering (bare wood)
3) Locate floor joists with a stud-finder & mark locations at the edge of the flooring--allows finding the joist locations after 3/4 sheet is laid to floor.
4) Add wood glue to floor
5) Place 3/4 inch wood sheet to floor & drive screws thru wood into joists (as many scews as deemed necessary to fully & completely compress wood sheet to existing floor
6) Add wood glue to 1st wood sheet
7) Place 2nd 3/4 inch wood sheet on top of 1st wood layer and drive screws into floor joists.
8) Add molding if desired
9) Re-install washer & dryer and level.
10) Add one heavy towel into washer tub & close door ( this will mimick an off-center load)
11) Press power "on" button
12) Press "Spin Speed" button & select high speed spin option
13) Press "Start" button
14) When * 9 minutes remaining * is displayed--use the flat wrenchette that comes with every LG washer to "tweak" the adjustment of the front leveling legs. This will allow for "fine tuning" adjustment of the front leveling leg(s) to eliminate vibration / noise during the spin cycle. The rear leveling legs DO NOT need further adjustment.
NOTE: Those with pedestals--check the front leveling legs on the washer and on the pedestals (front only) during spin.

Washer moves during the spin cycle

Due to strong vibration during spinning definitely the machine will stop. All you have to do is to check your load if equally distributed from the tub. To eliminate the vibration and the movement of your washer you need to align the four legs of your washer using level tools. Just put the level on the top of the four sides (front side, left side, right side and backside) then make necessary adjustment if needed on the 4 leg of the washer. Also check the water level of the balancer and the mounting position from the top of the tub.

Good afternoon, I recently purchases a Maytag Washer & Dryer, 100th Anniversary Model. As this was my first major purchase in 18 years for a new set I was looking forward to getting the pair home and...

Hello..
If your washer has four adjusatable leveling feet then one method would be to tilt the washer to gain access to the back feet first ( since they are the hardest to get to once the washer is positioned into its final location ) and spin them down so that they are projecting out ~ 3/4 inch from the cabinet frame. Then position the washer back into its final location in your laundry area. Check the side to side level of it by placing a spirit level ( normal carpenters level) across two flat surfaces of the washer cabinet on top and near the back) If they need a slight adjustment, then do that now.. re-check the side to side level until that is OK. Once you have the back part of the washer leveled side to side in the back and while it is in the final location of your laundry roomm check the front to back level. Use one adjustment leg on the front to get the front to back level on that side, then adjust the other front side leg so that it too is making contact with the floor and your front to back and side to side are all level. That is one way of setting it up however if after you are confident that it has been leveled this way ( all four feet are contactint the floor and that side to side and front to back are all level) and it still vibrates violently, you may have another problem with your washer that will need to be addressed. It should still be under warranty and I would speak with the sales people or their service department to set up an appointment to get it resolved. That is ONLY after you feel confident that the washer is level in its user position. Hope this helps you...

Tub off balance

Pick up the back of the machine a few inches then drop it. It has self leveling legs it will level everything and it should work fine after that.

Spin Shake ...

yes the water is supposed to be there, thats called the balance ring, some machine use cement others water. you say the washer is unbalanced even when empty, is there an indicator or is the machine itself physically off balance. if there is an indicator the off balance swich might have gone bad or you might need to adjust the leveling legs.
