Duracells are famous for oxidation of the posts, both + and -. Take the batteries out and give both posts a good rub on a rough cloth. Put them back in the charger and make certain they charge till they get warm/hotish. Let the charger turn off automatically. Test them with a load tester. RS has a good one good for AAA thru D. It actually loads the batteries and give you a replace/?/good. I have 4 sets of AA, 2 different series. One, no problemo, the other, the newest hicap, nothing but problems. Have to check them carefully. Was skunked by them again this week. My fault as I was in a hurry and forgot to check and clean them before charging. Good thing for 2 full sets (8 batteries).
Things to check first for a camera that won't turn on are battery contact points, and micro switches that are located on the battery and memory card doors. Troubleshooting tips on other things that need to be checked may be seen here. These tips won't work for every case, but they're worth a try.
