How do i scan? using a brother MFC 685-cw..can't seem to use the scanner.. anyone help?

Hi there, have you downloaded the latest scanner software from Brother and then do the scan from within the software interface. When you press the scan button, do you get the option to scan to and then the format that you want the document scanned. Here is a link to the scanner software from Brother. initial error AF, check the scanner flex cable or any cable, either they are not fix or not intalled properly..

I don't believe the DCP-7065DN allows scan to FTP. Brother's models MFC-7460DN and MFC-7860DW do provide this function. Good luck and please share your solution should you find one.

This may help others with scanning issues:
I just bought this and was nearly driven cracked trying to get the scanner to work as it was not talking to the PC, even though as a printer it was working fine. Realised eventually that it was just the Brother Control Centre 4 it wasn't talking to. After hours of re-installing software and updates, etc, nothing worked.
The solution: I went into Control Panel on my PC (I use Windows XP), to the Scanners and Cameras section, and in there the Brother Scanner was visible and could be used from there, Click on it to open the Windows Scanner and Camera Wizard and use that. Further, by right-clicking on it and going to properties I choose the software to start when it talks to the PC. I abandoned the Brother CC4 and set it up to start the Scanner and Camera Wizard if I choose 'Scan to Image' on the scanner control panel, and to open Photoshop if I 'Scan to File' on the scanner. Works fine either way, just make sure you choose the right dpi setting to suit your needs.

Maybe Print Head faulty

I have a brother MFC 420CN and my pc crashed. I had to download drivers to reinstall from the brother website. Everything seems to be working but the scanner. Any ideas how I can get this fixed?

Hello i just bought a Brother MFC-495CW printer and for the life of me cannot get wireless to connect even though i have setup everything correctly as far as i know. Any help would be appreciated.

Use SMTP relaying. Set up a computer with SMTP relaying. Go into the Remote Setup Program for your Brother MFC and select Setup Server. Use the IP address of that PC in the Server Settings and set Auth for SMTP to None. Worked great for me.
