I have an Ativa AT120DC. It won't operate

If it is only running in reverse the most likely cause is a faulty switch as the switch just reverses the polarity of the power to the motor. Also check that nothing is covering the proximity sensor in the throat of the shredder.

The shredder will only constantly run in the "Reverse" mode. The trigger located in the center of the feed entry slot, which activates the shredder, may be blocked. To clear it, you would need to insert an index card or file folder (i.e. rigid paper or cardstock) in the center of the feed slot and apply force.

Jammed ativa shredder, works in reverse, won't go into auto.

The shredder runs in "Reverse", but not in the "Auto /On" mode.

Double check that you do not still have any paper that may have become stuck in front of the sensor for the auto shutoff. If there is something in front of the sensor it will keep running.

SOUNDS LIKE THE SENSOR OR SWITCH MAY HAVE TRASH ON IT.
LOCATE THESE ITEMS USUALLY ON LEADING EDGE CLEAN
SENSOR WITH A "Q" TIP AND ALCOHOL. IF THERE IS SWITCH CHECK
TO SEE THAT IT IS NOT JAMMED AND WORKING PROPERLY.

Might be:
Paper too thick,
Too many sheets,
Shredder blades blunt.
Also head between blades for obstructions.

The RUN green light is on but no motor is operating for any function of the Ativa DQ 83Mn Shredder. What can be inop?

took the shredder section apart, cleaned out the gears of paper and a broken mount (plastic piece), and hand turned the electric motor to free it up. After assembly, the ready light works and so does the FWD/REV directions for shredding.

There should be a button the says auto. There you can press the button. If that doesnt work, then look at your guide that came with it.

On the right side of the waste basket(as you face it) is a tab that pushes a button on the shredder when it is in place. The tab is not making contact with the button. Push the side of the basket where the tab is when you have paper to shred in it. If it begins to shred, you may have to bend the basket inward so that the tab makes contact. I have had this problem.

ok " if the ready light did not come on it's telling you that there is no power sound like the plug in transformer is no good .

you can check that transformer , with a multimeter, see if you have the right voltage.
