    hello i'm the same problem..

i have canoscan d660u and i use vista 64 bit. i need driver . thanks

Managed to use vuescan to work with D660U in vista 64, this is not a free product though. Shame on all vendors who refuse to release driver to force people to buy new.

    I'm looking for a Vista 64bit driver too ...

You're trying to drum up business, we're trying to save money. I have a conscience, I don't want to throw away perfectly good things especially given the current environmental issues (I can easily afford to throw it away and buy another). I will need to buy a new scanner ofcourse as your policy gives me no choice, but you can bet your life it won't be a Canon!!

I need free download of driver for CanoScan D660U compatible with Windows Vista.

Same problem. I have Vista 64-bit OS. It's not that I mind buying another scanner, but like others, the scanner works fine. I just spent $900 on a new computer, monitor, etc. only to find out that half of my other equipment isn't compatible. I didn't go with Canon for a new printer, now I won't be buying a new Canon scanner either. I had both before. Who would've known?

Same problem. And I 'll offer a very good scanner to my brother (lucky guy, he has XP!) as a gift.

  • Yleinenmies Jan 25, 2009

I would like to point out, that since a scanner is typically used not very often (for me, once every three months or so), during 8 years I have used it about 32 times.

I absolutely do not accept that I would need to throw away a device in perfect working order, which produces perfect images (600dpi, which is more than enough).

Will give VueScan a go. At least paying for it doesn't increase the amount of junk we produce.

Can try VueScan, but it runs the scanner so slow, I literally fall asleep waiting. I won't be buying a cannon scanner to replace this perfectly good piece of hardware.

The D660U is not supported in a 64 bit OS. Only the 32 bit version of Windows Vista is supported. You can get that driver here:
http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=DownloadDetailTabAct&fcategoryid=351&modelid=6629

Let's face it, the D660U was released in September of 2000. That's nearly 7 years ago. You can say "Shame on all vendors" all you want. However, I'll bet that the computer you have Windows Vista64 running on is not the same computer you had when you bought the D660U. It's time to upgrade. The CanoScan 8800F is a great scanner. Amazingly fast too! Zero warm-up time.

Good luck.

No driver for Canoscan FB 630U Vista 64 bit

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like Canon supports this scanner under Vista. Check if the Windows generic TWAIN scanner driver will work. The Canon software won't work. If the generic driver can be installed, then you should be able to acquire scans in Paint (File > Import from Scanner or Camera), Windows Fax and Scan (New Scan) (some versions of Vista) or Windows Photo Gallery (IIRC it works like Paint).

I hope this helps.

(Canon wants you to upgrade. I have a different scanner that isn't officially supported past XP and the generic driver works fine. Unfortunately, you can't just use the XP driver in the compatibility mode due to the lack of signed drivers that are required in the 64-bit OS)

CanoScan N1220U Scanner Windows 7 64-bit Driver

You may use Hamrick VueScan Pro, it installs a driver that makes 1220 to work. Or, if the version of Windows 7 you use support XP Mode, install it.

It's still a good scanner, and mine is working in 7 x64 using XP Mode!

Canoscan does not work on vista 64-bit

I'm not sure if this will work on the lide 20. I have an lide 35, and there are no 64 bit drivers for it. I downloaded and installed the drivers for the lide 60, told the computer to manually find the lide 60 drivers for my scanner, and installed the canoscan toolbox for vista 64 bit. Works like a champ.

Windows vista 64 bit driver

Hi mtrump1,

Thanks for your posting in FixYa.

The driver are available on the Canon Website, use this link to get it:

http://software.canon-europe.com/products/0000441.asp

or

For Vista 64 Bit you can try:
http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/SCANNER-Digital-CAMERA-WEBCAM/CANON/Canon-CanoScan-D1230U-611c.shtml

But i think both should be compatible to run in any 32 or 64 bit environment.
