Television turns on but it has voice but no picture. We have already installed a new lamp, but that didn't fix the problem. The lights on front of the television blink five times then it shuts off and comes back on but won't allow you to turn it off by the remote control.

You have either a bad ballast or a bad DMD Board. First remove the lamp from the televison and power the television on. When you turn it on you should hear a buzz and if you look in the back of the televison you should see a spark (this will not damage your television). If you dont hear the buzz or see a spark than your ballast which powers on the lamp is bad. If you hear the buzz and see a spark than your ballast is good and the DMD board needs replacing which will cost around $500-$850 depending on where you take it to be fixed. If you do the repair yourself then you must also know how to access the service menu and also know which engine you have and also be ready to tackle adjusting the picture which will require two people or your picture will not be square or centered. DMD boards usually run around $300.00

I put a new lamp in my hitachi 50v720 tv. The light keeps blinking and the power will not come on

If it was blinking like it was, it's probably either a bad lamp or a faulty install. Try re-installing the housing of the lamp in the T.V. if you're sure you didn't over tighten or under tighten the screws on the lamp. These are all simple things to check before you send back the potentially bad lamp.

You cooould have a bad ballast, but it's probably either that you put the lamp in wrong, or you have a defective lamp though. There's a 33% chance that any of those are the case. Unplug the TV for 30 seconds. Plug it back in. Try turning it on again. Make sure you didn't over tighten the lamp during install. Especially the screw on the side. It should be a tight connection. Send the lamp back and get a new one. Usually they come with a warranty. If the new one doesn't work, it's either the ballast, or the power supply.

I have a Sony Grand Wega KF-60WE610 television. It now seems that the picture is darker than it used to be. I can still watch a show, but many people who have seen my television comment on the poor...

I'm sorry that the pictures on the TV screen is black. Based on the information you have provided, it appears that the issue is with the Lamp itself. The lamp of the TV may have to be replaced within two to three years depends upon the amount of usage.
If the screen becomes dark, the color looks unsual or the LAMP indicator on the front of the LCD projection TV flashes, it is time to replace the lamp.
Thanks for understanding. Please let me know if you require further assistance in replacing the lamp of the TV.

Sony Wega KF-42E200A Projection Bulb

New bulb is just fine.
3 blink shows that lamp cover after replacement of bulb in TV is not fixed properly or not seated well in its position.
Put new bulb and carefully place back lamp cover in its position because lamp cover will press tinny safety switch inside that will send signal to system control of TV that lamp is installed properly.
Turn On TV and get vivid picture of Sony.
Thanks.

Sounds like the color wheel may have also gone bad. I recently saw a 56" Samsung where the bulb and color wheel went at the same time. The color wheel could produce a crying noise while trying to spin up.

The lamp is in the FRONT of the television set. Just remove the bottom front, no screws, and you'll clearly see directions on how to install the new lamp.

Vivitek 51 DLP HD HDMI

You should have checked the troubleshooting section of your manual!! Okay, enough scolding. You need a new lamp. I do enjoy my Vivitek, but this is a definite downside of a DLP, especially if you watch a lot of TV. I am on my third lamp already, and they are NOT inexpensive. If you have your TV less than a year, your lamp may still be covered under warranty and may be replaced by Vivitek for free. If you have to buy your lamp, it can easily cost you over $200. This is the new lamp in a whole new assembly, which makes installing it EXTREMELY EASY and will just take a few moments. If you are a little more adventurous and want to save some money, you can buy the lamp alone. You then remove the lamp assembly from the television, open it up (there's several screws to remove), disconnect the old lamp, and reverse the process by making the proper connections with the new lamp and putting the new assembly back together and back into the television. It sounds more complicated than it is.. Biggest rule.-- don't touuch the surface of the lamp with your bare hands. You don't want your oils on the lamp. . And once you put everything back together and restart the TV, reset the timer for the lamp (the manual explains how). The lamp timer is very important for warning you of when to replace the lamp under ordinary conditions, when it does make it through its entire expected life. I don't know if it's appropriate to actually recommend specific vendors for the lamp, but I can if that's okay. email me midlomiss at yahoo dot com
