My computer won't recognize my 002 rack. Just

My computer won't recognize my 002 rack anymore. Just stopped working. The 1394 light won't come on. Got a pci firewire card, still not working. Seems like its the rack because my hard drives work via fire wire. Reinstalled protools and hardware drivers still nothing. 5 months ago i replaced the wiring harness. The sample rate light comes on as well as the mute so I really don't think its the harness problem again. Tried both fire wire ports.
Stumped.
Please help. I am in the middle of an album with pissed off clients.
Using Win XP.

Probably too late..but the internal power harnesses go bad on the digi oo2. I bought mine from sweetwater and they sent me a new harness for free.

Bad firewire port..Musicians Custome Electronics in Chicago can fix it. Good luck!

First thing to do is a hard reset. Merely unplug the power cord for 4 hours, then power up again.In order to dissipated the remaining current stored in the memory and disconnect all unit connected.

first of all uninstall the programme switch off your pc and remove the sound driver putit again and check that all wires you put are complete now turn your pc on and install the driver again. so try this one if problem persist cointact me .

hello all. this is a very common problem with the 002. get out the dish gloves and follow these instructions. let me know how you go. its my own personal solution which worked for me. may or may not but its definately worth a shot.
unplug the unit and put on some rubber gloves. unscrew the top off the unit. if the front of the unit is facing you, on the far right is the power console. I had the same problem with mine. The problem is that the firewire isnt receiving power all the time. So what you do is just unplug the plug at each end of the power unit, and plug it back on. do that ten times and that should solve it. did for me. i know, sounds too good to be true, but give it a shot

My 1394 light on the front of the digidesign 003 rack dose not light up but the link light is on thats in the back of the digidesign 003 rack. protoos software for windows xp cant connect to the 003 rack...
Its probably a faulty 1394 port. Musicans Custom Electronics in Chicago can fix it. (708) 755 6960

Hi i have digi design rack 002 with pro tools le
Try the other port on the 002. If that doesnt work, I recommend trying the 002 on a computer that does have 400 to see if it will connect then.

If it doesnt, then you may have a couple blown firewire chips inside your 002. It happens, and can be fixed.

clean the ribbon cable connection on the dc power harness with contact cleaner. i had the same problem. this fixed it.

Turn digi 002 on and the mute light keeps stay on

I just had the same problem... It has to do with the connectors from the power harness. Found this on the internet and it did the trick for me...

It seems like it's only a matter of time before the digi002 (rack and non-rack) have this problem. You'll go to turn it on and the mute light turns on and nothing else. You don't hear the 3 clicks that you usually hear when turning it on. Your computer doesn't recognize it. Then you start swearing and promising to quit recording forever. After all that happens, you have 2 options:

1. call digidesign. they've been replacing the power harness (source of problem) for just about everyone, even if you're out of warranty and it's free (including the tech support over the phone). don't pay them anything. maybe shipping.

2. most people seem to have the same problem after a while after getting their new power harness. lots of people are saying it's not even the harness - just the connectors. so last night i had this problem and i opened up the top of the box and unplugged and plugged back in the little rubber-covered wires going from the power cord to the rest of the 002. turned it on. works fine. i may try to use some of that connector-cleaner from GC if it happens again.

so if you find this happening, don't panic. try the above. takes 5-10 minutes (only because of all of the screws)

Macbook pro does not detect digi 002 rack
yeah i have an intel imac and had the same problem. I upgraded to pt le 7.4 and now pro tools recognizes the 002 rack and it works fine, but still the core audio manager does not recognize the hardware. It says in "use" when I first turn on the 002 rack, then it says not connected after about 20 seconds. I don't think this really matters though because I have beeen able to do everything fine without having the core audio managr recognizing the 002 rack. I hope that helps
