You must have a slight leak from somewhere like the trigger or hose etc. Any slight leak on the out pressure side will cause the machine to surge. If you don,t have any leaks then it will be a worn n/r valve on your pump.

What is main purpose for a surge arrester?

A surge arrester is a device that an appliance plugs into. The main job it has to perform is stopping any large voltage spikes from entering the device that it protects. For example your computer is plugged into a surge protector. A thunderstorm comes along and hits close enough to the power line to cause the normal power to jump 100 percent. The surge arrestor will dump that voltage and protect the computer if it a good brand and the voltage is high enough to be seen and caught. You will need to replace the surge arrestor if it does its job one time.

My stereo just quit on me there was bad weather but it was on one of those power surge cords it is a pioneer stereo fm-am digital synthesizer tuner

If it was plugged into a surge protector, check the surge protector warranty. There are A LOT of surge protectors that will cover damage to items plugged into them through their warranty system. I've had full home computers and TV's replaced by surge protector companies to avoid having a hit to homeowners insurance.

Surge protector was blinking. smelled a little electrical burn odor. pluged tv directly to wall..all I hear ia a click noise..nothing lights up . help!

The surge protector has likely committed suicide... or died by homicide. In other words, it may have done its job, or been fried trying. Either the breaker/fuse inside melted by design due to a surge, or it died.

A surge protector is only designed to protect you from many small/everyday surges, or ONE BIG ONE. The cumulative wear of small surges will eventually kill them as well. They don't last forever, and some experts recommend replacing them every 3 years or so for safety/performance.

Some surge protectors have a reset switch or a replaceable fuse, but since you smelled something burning, I highly recommend tossing it in the garbage (if not still on fire, hee hee), and get a new surge protector for safety. Your house is worth the $25+. If you have had any other electrical issues in your home lately, get an electrician to do a quick safety inspection as well. Be safe!

PS: Not all surge protectors are created equal. Look for one that has "lighting protection" and costs at least $20-25 , or you likely don't have decent protection (the ones I buy are usually $30-$35, but I watch for sales and keep an extra on hand). Never overload a surge protector or wall outlet. Read the manual for the total watts, etc. supported. And don't expect to collect on the $50,000 equipment damage guarantee some surge protectors promise.

Power surge hit my surge protector with my 'sony tv hooked to it.

Well, the power supply may be still damaged by the surge, what may happen is that when first surge happens the surge protector protect your TV by sacrifing itself but then the second surge comes along, since the protector already blown up then the surge will just come right through to the TV on the second surge. That is bad problem for the surge protector that sacrify itself but can only do it for ONE time.

Taco timers and Surge Protectors

Do they run at the same time? The two items consume
a lot of power. Check the voltage when they are turned on. If the voltage is below 90 Volts. The power surge at your Taco is great. Then, the surge protector could not
handle the current inrush that's why it's blown off. You
must install a surge protector that can handle the Taco
current inrush.

Does my samsung tv keeping turning itself off because of not having plugged it into a surge protector or is it more a fault with my tv

It is a fault with your power supply module actually inside the tv...take it to a local service center or if its under warranty take it back. surge protectors help prevent issues like this occuring due to damage to the power supply from surges but not having one wont cause these problems unless it has recieved a surge.....in future i would use a surge protector on all your expensive appliances, surges and power fluctuations are very common in mains power i live near the mines and we have power problems all the time!! hope this helps, ben

Tv will not power up when turned on after a power surge occurred.

Prayfully the fuse inside the tv took a little shock and broke ...if not that would leave the transformer or the board took a surge also but this would also depend on a little more details...

was the power surge damaged?
was tv plug damaged?
does the power surge still work (if it wasn't damage)
and not all power surges are power surges unless it specified of purchase most are like power surges but are only close to and a extended extention cord updated..

if the power surge is damaged or even still works then go have the fuse check and any further damage will also show up on the board it will have a burned part...
