The drum unit on these models is a complete replacement unit. the drum can only be cleaned by removing the unit and then there are some screws to be taken out. two on the back plat and two on the front. if you take these cover plates of the unit will split and you can remove the drum(Blue roller) and under neath there is a charge roller as well that can be cleaned.. only use water on the black cahrge roller and gently rub with a cloth till clean. The drum with a very soft cloth and some liquid brasso may clean it up or get rid of the scratch lines but if they are too worn the drum needs replacing. you can clean the scanner glass and the mirrors underneath here as well.B0392201 is the part number for the Drum unit which comes as a complete unit. you may need to purchase the developer for the drum init as well B0399640 is the part number for this. hope this helps >>>A

If i'm not mistaken, you open the left side door, it might have 2 green circular tabs, grab and pull towards you. Sorry, it's been a while since i've worked on Ricohs

The copied paper is faint and empty spaces is visible though the toner is full and the copying document OK.The drum is also new.

check the transfer roller of the machine. the transfer roller is on the right side cover. its a black roller which is a sponge type. clean it and see. also clean the optics and the scanner unit.

Why does my Ricoh Aficio 2035e copier produce copies with dark lines across copies?

Make a copy from the glass by laying your original on the glass under the feeder and see if the lines go away. If they do then you need to clean the small strip of glass that is just to the left of the large glass. If you still get the lines then most likely the cause is a bad drum cleaning blade or possibly both the drum blade and the drum itself. If this is the case then you should be able to open the right side door and look closely at the green colored cylinder, which is the drum, and see if you see any wear lines or black lines on the drum surface. If you do then there is your cause. The drum should always be clean and shiny with no toner, lines or wear "grooves" in the surface.
The lines you are experianceing should be caused by one of these 2 problems.
Good Luck and Thank You for using Fixya.

Richo 1013f copier problems-grey lines on copies

Most often this problem is coming fro the PCU or Photoconductor Unit. If you open the right side door just look for the long greenish colored cylinder. It should be clean. If you see a toner film or more specifically the same "lines" on the surface of the drum that you see on the copies then you will know. If this is the case you will need a new PCU. Installation is a piece of cake.

Ricoh Aficio 1013f is duplicating print under each line. Happens on copying, printing and faxing. Have changed process drum unit twice in the last year, fuser unit and had unit cleaned. Was better for...

What type of environment is this copier in? Standard office, warehouse, etc. If the temperature in the area fluctuates a lot, that could have something to do with your problem. Usually ghosting problems like that originate in the fuser. Try increasing or decreasing the fuser temperature to see if that fixes the issue.

Print quality

Ghosting can :
1-prints on the fuser roller, check if yes try cleaning it off, wait until it cools off

2-blanking lamps dirty or not working,(deletes image off the drum, before it gets ready to accept a new one)

BL mirror-(new image)

drum

3-Bad drum (although I doubt it this far in the process.)

Ricoh 1018

possibly the process unit and if you look in through the right hand door you can see the drum ...or it could come from a worn out upper heat roller.

Text "ghosts" or shadows

Replace Drum or blade(if possible) will fix on most types of copiers/printers, or rarer it is cause of fuser.
