Computer not communicating with printer

You can try to run it from My computer, right click dvd drive and so on.
You can also download software and drivers from Lexmark webpage so you don't need the disk.

Make sure that in control panel/printers. Yours is set as default.

Next try shuting down pc,disconnecting printer,then restart pc and reconnect printer.

With the Lexmark printers communication subsystem you MUST let the driver ask for you to plug in the printer. DO NOT plug the printer into the USB port until told to do so.

To fix a fouled install:
(1) Uninstall the Lexmark drivers in Add Remove Programs
(2) Shutdown the computer
(3) Disconnect the printer from the USB port
(4) Restart the computer
(5) Run the Driver Installation software
(6) Cancel ALL attempts by windows to auto install the printer
(7) When the software asks for the printer connect it and continue

You stated that you just got a new computer and are trying to hook up your old printer to it. Here is the Lexmark website to download new drivers for the VISTA? operating system driver for your printer. Use the control panel printer install along with the new downloaded driver.Whee asked where the driver is, just let it know where you placed it. I would first uninstall the printer .

Ckeck in control panel & se if the driver software installed. It should be listed in Add/remove programs. If it is, power up the piinter & load windows Vista update service. See if Vista has any patches for you're printer. If no, goto Lexmark & go to the driver section for you're P4350 printer software for Vista. While in Vista update, install any updates listed.

Creat a folder on you're desktop & down load the latest driver software in-to the folder you created. Uninstall any Lexmark software that might have been in add/remove programs. Install the driver software you downloaded. If all this still fails, call Lexmark since this is a new printer. The number should be in you're manul. Or you can go here for free support.

I had this same problem...drove me crazy for a week. Called the geek squad at Best Buy and they mentioned something about a"patch" (which I had no idea what that meant) on the website of the printer. I went to Lexmark website, and selected 1200 series and windows vista (which is what's installed on my computer) A page came up to install a driver that made the two compatible and it worked!!!
