Do you have the tuner locked out for use of HDMI input only?
Most of the time when a selection is not able to be hi-lited it is
because a feature that is activated locks out other selections.
Hope this helps,

If the problem "distorted picture" was red and blue lines everywhere you may have a shorted convergence IC and the set may be in shutdown; someone needs to determine by unsoldering the two convergence IC chips and then trying to turn the set on; if they are unsoldered and the set comes on---one of them is the trouble----also you can look around them at a number of small resistors to see if any are discolored or look burnt--If you need more direct assistance my email address is:

The convergence ic chips are usually located on the right side of the set as you look at it from the back on a large finned piece of metal(it is a heat sink to keep them cool).
Testimonial: "Thanks so much. the IC chip was bad just as you said. Now it is working!!! I will recommend this sit to everyone."

Your convergence ic's have to be replaced along with checking all the bias resistors for exact value. Easy for me! I don't know what your electronics background is?

It sounds like a convergence problem.
I will attach some photos for you to compare to your picture. No two sets when they have this kind of problem look exactly the same but you will know if it is the the trouble you have.
If it is a convergence problem I can give you options about repairing it yourself of having someone else repair it for you.
Keep in mind that I am in California and possible differences in time between where you and I are.
Look at the photos and let me know what you think, I am here to help.

The TV should be pretty simple. It is generally going to be HDMI 1, 2 or 3. If the TV won't tune to one then it doesn't detect a signal on that port. More likely, there is a setting either in your Graphic Adapter software or in Windows to output to this port. Windows doesn't turn anything but the RGB port on by default.
