I HAVE A RCA D52W23 52 in. Rear Projection Television. THE MENU SCREEN POPS UP ON ITS OWN AND WE HAVE TO HIT EXIT ON OUR REMOTE. IT GOES AWAY BUT COMES BACK EVERY SO OFTEN. THE TV CHANGES CHANNELS BY ITSELF AND IT TURNS THE VOLUME DOWN BY ITSELF

Debra try this to reset, do not use remote for this operation.
With the TV powered on complete the following steps:
Press and hold "Menu" button on the front of the TV
Press and release the "Power" button on the front of the TV.
Press and release the "Volume Down" button on the front of the TV.
This should bring up the service menu.
Using the buttons on the front of the TV, scroll down and select (Reset to Factory Defaults).

Problem is not going to be in your Signal Board SSB,
It is your Front Panel Board/ the board that Has Vol- Vol+ CH- CH+ OFF/ON -POWER/ Either contact switches are Bad OR Very Diry Take Contact Cleaner or you can use rubbing Alcohol to clean contacts.
Yes. Its probably a stuck button on the TV's front panel. Try pushing or wiggling each button on the panel. It could be the channel up/down buttons or volume up/down, menu, etc.
When there is a button that is making slight contact, it keeps the microprocessor busy attending to the command its erroneously receiving from the offending button and may not allow other functions to work when this occurs.
It doesn't matter which button is stuck, any of the symptoms you describe can happen.
your convergency ics are dead!!!! They can be replaced buy anybody who has the right tools and no-how, I live in Surrey BC and I have fixed 5 tv"s with the same problem myself !!
there is a problem with the front control buttons. i see this quite often at the shop. the best way to deternmine this is to remove the buttons and use the remote to turn it on if it goes away then i would suggest replace the button cuicit board assembly
ok i have seen this happen a few times its common solution is to replace the front keyboard cuircit. i have also seen the infrared sensor problem. the processor thinks it getting a menu on command
