Hi, Ever since I moved to a new location, the fax has stopped working (I have connected it to the phone correctly). The error report still displays the old phone number. The fax was working fine in the old location. Please help me solve this problem! Thanks!

Hello,

You might have to do a system reset for your printer. To do this:

1) Unplug power cord.
2) Press hold button "6" and "#".
3) while holding buttons 6 and #, return the power cord, then release buttons.

You may now setup your faxing using the new number you have.

Hope this helps. Thanks for using Fixya.

When sending fax on canon pixma MX350 i get a NG error REPORT what does this mean

Hi There!
Comm Error will show on the display if there is an issue with the phone line like an interference or it's not connected directly to the wall jack.

What you can do is check if the machine has a dial tone or try to call the fax # where you need to send the fax, just check if it's ringing. Second before loading the paper make sure that the display shows date & time. Then load the document in the tray the display should show enter fax # & start. Start dialing the # then press start.

Hope this helps.

The fax appears to dial the number successfully. The receiving fax is turned on. It apprears to try for a long time. The error report says "no answer."

It is not your fax line is the other party.did you try any other number?
Post back.

Solution one: Perform a fax line test Perform a fax line test to check whether the fax line is properly connected. Step one: Run a Fax Test
  1. Press the Setup button (c01395353.jpg ) on the product control panel.
  2. Use the Arrow keys (c01073166.jpg ) to select Service , select Fax Service , select Run Fax Test , and then press OK . The Fax Test prints.
    • If the report passes, try to resend the fax.
    • If the report fails with the message 'Fail - the phone line is not active,' plug the cable into a working telephone jack, and then try to resend the fax.
    • If the report fails with the message 'Fail - the cord is in the wrong port,' continue to 'Step two: Change the cable to the correct port.'
Step two: Change the cable to the correct port Make sure the telephone cable is inserted in the correct port. Remove the cord for the fax line from the port labeled with a telephone, and then insert it into the correct port. Figure 1: Fax portsc01756259.gif Scanner error message The message 'Scanner error ' displays on the product control panel while sending a fax. Solution: Check paper size This product only supports paper less than 381 mm (15 in). Use only letter, A4, or legal sized paper for sending faxes. To send this fax, copy or print the original document onto shorter paper, and then resend.

We keep getting an error code 344* when we are trying to transmit a fax. What can we do to fix this?

Error 344 means :-

The remote machine has failed to respond to a fax command from the product because the connection is interrupted.
The remote user has pressed the Stop button while the remote machine was receiving.
Under rare conditions, incompatibility between the two machines can cause the remote machine to simply abandon the call.

Solutions :-
  1. Attempt to send the fax again when telephone-line conditions have improved.
  2. If the fax session was using error correction, disable ECM.
To disable ECM Press :-
  1. Press Setup .
  2. Press the Down arrow (c00326489.gif ) repeatedly until Advanced Fax Setup displays.
  3. Press OK .
  4. Press the Down arrow (c00326489.gif ) until Error Correction Mode displays.
  5. Press OK .
  6. Press the Right arrow (> ) until either OFF or ON displays.
  7. Press OK .
  8. Send another fax to verify that the ECM is enabled or disabled.
Check the Phone Cable connected with the printer.
Make sure the Cable should be connected to line 1 port at the back of the printer and it should be going directly from the printer to the wall jack and not to the Serj protector.

Try to print a fax test page.
  1. On the control panel of the product, press the Setup button (c01361401.gif ).
  2. Press the Right Arrow button (c01185072.jpg ) to select Tools , and then press OK .
  3. Press the Right Arrow button (c01185072.jpg ) to select Run Fax Test , and then press OK . The product displays the test results on the control panel display and prints the Fax Test Report.
Now Do this :-
  1. Send a one page black and white text fax to 1-888-hpfaxme (1-888-473-2963).
  2. When your fax is received by the HP Test Fax Service, we will generate a return fax to you within five minutes confirming that we received your fax. This verifies that you can both send and receive a fax with your fax machine.
If you do not receive a return fax within 5-7 minutes, there may be a problem with the setup of your fax machine. Consult the user manual that came with the product for proper setup and configuration. Try the above steps and let me know if it works for you.

What button do I press to generate a Fax report - this is not always generated automatically.

Sounds like your Fax Options are set to print on error only. If you want to have both confirmations and error pages do the following:
1 Press Menu until “Fax Setup” appears on the top line of the display. Press Enter.
2 Use the scroll button to find MSG Confirm. Press enter.
3 It may be selected to On-Err. Use the scroll arrow buttons to get to On. Press Enter.
4 To return to Standby mode, press Stop/Clear.
This should make your fax print out a confirmation on a successful or failure transmit of your fax.
If you want to print out the last few sent or receive faxes:
Printing a Report
1 Press Menu until “Reports” appears on the top line of the display.
2 Press the scroll arrow buttons to display the report or list you want to print on the bottom line.
•Phone Book: Phonebook list •Sent Report: Sent fax report •RCV Report: Received fax report •System Data: System data list •Scheduled Jobs: Scheduled job information •MSG Confirm: Message confirmation •Junk Fax List: Junk fax number list
3 Press Enter. The selected information prints out.
You can find your manual in English by clicking here.
Good luck!

I can send a fax, make copies, but cannot receive a fax on my HPL7590. Help

hi tbacsa02,

this was a solution i posted earlier with someone that has the same problem like yours.

follow this few steps;
first can you try this;

You can test your fax setup to check the status of the device and to make sure it is set up properly for faxing. Perform this test after you have completed setting up the device for faxing. The test does the following:

• Tests the fax hardware
• Verifies the correct type of phone cord is connected to the device
• Checks that the phone cord is plugged into the correct port
• Checks for a dial tone
• Checks for an active phone line
• Tests the status of your phone line connection

The device prints a report with the results of the test. If the test fails, review the report for information on how to fix the problem and rerun the test.

To test fax setup
1. Set up the device for faxing according to your particular home or office setup instructions.
2. Make sure the ink cartridges are installed, and that full-size paper is loaded in the main tray before starting the test.
3. From the device control panel, press Setup.
4. Press right arrow to select Tools, and then press OK.
5. Press right arrow to select Run Fax Test, and then press OK.
The device displays the status of the test on the display and prints a report.
6. Review the report.
• If the test passes and you are still having problems faxing, check the fax
settings listed in the report to verify the settings are correct. A blank or
incorrect fax setting can cause problems faxing.

Hi how do I turn of tx and rx reports on faxcentre F110/

The machine can print a transmission (confirmation) report after each transmitted fax. This report indicates whether or not the fax has reached the intended recipient. Four different settings are available for the transmission report:
  • With: a report is printed when the fax transmission was successfully sent or when it is completely abandoned. There is only one report for each fax sent.
  • Without: no transmission report is automatically printed, however, the machine will save all fax transmissions that took place in memory. The faxes sent can be viewed by printing out a transmission log (report).
  • Always: a report is printed after each successful or interrupted transmission.
  • On Error: a report is printed only if the transmission failed or is abandoned.

NOTE: With each transmission report from memory, a reduced version of the first page is automatically reproduced.

To modify the report type setting:
  1. Press the [OK] button directly below the Display Screen. '1 Installation' and '2 Fax' will be displayed.
  2. Press [2], [5] on the numeric keypad. ‘25 >Send Report’ will be displayed.
  3. Press [OK]. The transmission report screen will be displayed.
  4. Press the up or down arrow button directly below the Display Screen to select a transmission report setting, then press [OK]. ‘25 Send Report’ will be displayed.

NOTE: As the up and down arrow buttons are pressed, the menu will scroll through the available choices and move the greater than symbol (>). Stop when the greater symbol is in front of the appropriate selection.

  5. Press the [Stop] button on the Control Panel. The 'Date / Time' screen will be displayed

Fax

To test your fax setup
1 Press Setup.
2 Press 6, and then press 5.
This displays the Tools menu and then selects Run Fax Test.
The HP all-in-one displays the status of the test on the color graphics display and prints a report.

3 Review the report.
– If the test passes and you are still having problems faxing, check the fax
settings listed in the report to verify the settings are correct. A blank or
incorrect fax setting can cause faxing problems.
– If the test fails, review the report for information on how to fix any problems
found. For more information, you can also see the next section, The fax test
failed.
4 Press OK to return to the Setup Menu.

Make sure you used the phone cord supplied in the box with your HP all-in-one
to connect to the telephone wall jack. One end of this special 2-wire phone
cord should be connected to the port labeled "1-LINE" on the back of your
HP all-in-one and the other end to your telephone wall jack

This special 2-wire cord is different from the more common 4-wire phone cords
you might already have in your home or office. Check the end of the cord and
compare it to the two types of cords shown below.

If you used the 4-wire phone cord, disconnect it, find the supplied 2-wire cord,
and then connect the 2-wire cord to the port labeled "1-LINE" on the back of
your HP all-in-one. For more information on connecting this phone cord and
setting up your HP all-in-one for faxing, see Fax setup.
If the supplied phone cord is not long enough, you can extend it. For
information see The phone cord that came with my HP all-in-one is not long
enough.
● Try connecting a working phone and phone cord to the telephone wall jack
that you are using for the HP all-in-one and check for a dial tone. If you do not
hear a dial tone, contact your telephone company and have them check the
line.
● Other equipment, which uses the same phone line as the HP all-in-one, might
be in use. For example, you cannot use your HP all-in-one for faxing if an
extension phone is off hook, or if you are using your PC modem to send an email
or access the Internet.
● The phone line connection might be noisy. Phone lines with poor sound quality
(noise) can cause faxing problems. Check the sound quality of the phone line
by plugging a phone into the telephone wall jack and listening for static or
other noise. If you hear noise, turn Error Correction Mode (ECM) off and try
faxing again. For information, see Use error correction mode. If the problem
persists, contact your telephone company.
● If you are using a digital subscriber line (DSL) service, make sure that you
have a DSL filter connected or you will not be able to fax successfully. The
DSL filter removes the digital signal and allows your HP all-in-one to
communicate properly with the phone line. Obtain a DSL filter from your DSL
provider. If you already have a DSL filter, make sure it is connected correctly.
Make sure your HP all-in-one is not connected to a telephone wall jack that is
set up for digital phones. To check if your phone line is digital, connect a
regular analog phone to the line and listen for a dial tone. If you do not hear a
normal sounding dial tone, it might be a phone line set up for digital phones.
● If you are using either a private branch exchange (PBX) or an integrated
services digital network (ISDN) converter/terminal adapter, make sure the
HP all-in-one is connected to the port that is designated for fax and phone
use. Also, make sure that the terminal adapter is set to the correct switch type
for your country/region, if possible.
Note that some ISDN systems allow you to configure the ports for specific
phone equipment. For example, you might have assigned one port for
telephone and Group 3 fax and another port for multiple purposes. If you
continue to have problems when connected to the fax/phone port, try using the
port designated for multiple purposes; it might be labeled "multi-combi" or
something similar. For information on setting up your HP all-in-one with a PBX
phone system or ISDN line
