Margin Resetting Hello, I need directions on how to reset the margind on a Brother EM-630 Typewriter. Thanks!

On most electronic typewriters you change the margins by pressing the code button and holding down the press r margin or l margin on the key board. You want the carrier to be where you want the margin set. To set margins beyond the right or left margin move the carrier to the margin and press margin release to go past the margin. Then press code left or right margin.

Be sure the print wheel is properly installed check for debris in that area be sure that the ribbon isn't empty.

Not positive about but many electronics you must press and release the mar rel key for it to function.

When turned on the carrier must move to the left side frame, where it seneses the LEFT limit, then moves towards the right and parks at the Left Margin Position. Your problem sounds like something is interfering with the carrier movement to the LEFT limit (could be packaging). Turn the power OFF. Manually move the carrier to the RHGHT. Look inside the machine on the left side to check for foreign materials. Also check that the ribbon, correction lift-off tape, and printwheel are installed properly. GOOD LUCK!

You must position the carrier to where you want the margin then press the left or right margin set button depending on which one you want to set. Use the margin release button to get past the current margins. You may have to use the code button with the margin button to set the margin. Lawrence
