Why does my camera need reinitialising after I download photos to my mac? This is very frustrating as it means I cannot keep originals. Error given is card not initialised and happens everytime I load pictures onto my mac from my camera. How can I stop this happening?
It looks like your Mac is writing data back to the card while connected. The camera tries to access the images, but sees the Mac file, and doesn't know what to do. Try accessing the images on the Mac while the camera is connected. If you see files that are not the camera's files or folders, delete them. Don't delete your image files and folders, however.

Not sure what you mean here. Have you already initialised the card and lost photos or do you want to initialise it without losing pictures already on it? If it's the first part you need to use some recovery software to get your pictures back. If its the second - you can't. Initialising a card will wipe the photos - and then you are back at 1 and will have to use some recovery software. The only way you can do it is to copy all the photos off the card first - then it doesn'r matter. Alternatively - buy another card.
Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.
The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.
Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive. Or you can use iPhoto or any other photo cataloging program.
Hey Delyth, What you need to do is format the memory card to work in this particular camera. Directions on how to do this are on page 50 of your camera manual, and I have included a link to a PDF download of your camera manual incase you need it. Formatting the memory card in this camera is done in the set up menu. Keep in mind every time you format your memory card all current images on the card will be erased so upload them to your computer first. I hope this helps! http://www.fujifilmusa.com/shared/bin/A330A340Manual_1.pdf Sincerely, Allan Go Ahead. Use Us.
