I have a Fuji Finepix A605 and have recently bought a new 1gb (M) xd card for it as I;m due to go on holiday in the next week or so.
The camera tells me 'Card not Initialised', which I take to mean that it should be formatted. I have tried this and it appears to work. However, I then review my photo's and it tells me 'read error'. I turn it off then on again and have lost all photos and it goes back to the 'card not initialised' message.
I have tried to re-format the card several times now but the same keeps happening.
My 16mb card is fine!!
I'm at my wits end.........

Try this site for a firmware update. You need to get a AC power adapter for it to work though. It is from Fuji and it worked fine for my A120. The older XD cards are of a different format then the newer ones so if your new XD card has an 'M' on it you will need to do the firmware solution.

This could possibly be a problem with the card reader ..Just insert a different card and see if it works..If it reads other cards..then i advice that you get new card coz the recovery softwares and stuff r pretty expensive and will be a waste of money..
