Administrator privileges hello, im trying to download telus security e protection and the instructions say that i need to contact my computers administrator for assistance. your help would be apprecated very much

    We have a Sony Vaio w Windows XP Home. Just purchased Sony Vegas Movie Studio 9 and installed it. Trying to open program, we get a popup saying registration requires administrator privileges, please run from an administrator account. Both of us have admin privileges, but I did some searching and saw that some programs require the administrator account, so I followed the instr to Control+Alt+Del and type in administrator, then got the popup Unable tolog you on because of an account registration.

    Help would be appreciated.

So your account means is not an administrator? Do you supply your password when loggin in? if then you should log off the system and in then, press simultaneously" CTRL+Alt+Delete" 2X

the system prompted you to type the username and password:

type:On;

Username: administrator
Password: _____________, password leave it blank and enter.

system will logon to the administrator account.

there u can install what u wish.

Trying to install my new singer futura ce250 i have downloaded the patch to get it to work with my computer now it gives me a error on the computer screen something with security
My guess is that you should uninstall the software re-install the file as administrator or with administrator privileges
Unfortunately you do not give details of your operating system, XP or vista etc but in general right click on the install file and 'run as' administrator or run with administrator privileges.

My computer is refusing me as a computer administrator, although i am the only user on the computer. also the computer does not allow me to download any files or delete any either. it is a gateway mx8711
What operating system: XP or Vista?
You should be able to go into Control Panel and review what users have Administrative privileges. It is possible that you have a "hidden" admin account.
Left click on the Windows logo in the lower left corner
Left click on "Control Panel"
Double click on "Users" or "User Accounts"

There should be a list of names and user access privileges.

To change the privileges associated with names, you'll need to be logged on as an administrator. You might have to change the settings to show more log in names; or if Vista, select the little arrow next to the Padlock symbol on the power off screen and "switch user" to one of the administrator profiles.

It is good security practice to NOT always use an Administrator profile. Do maintenance as an administrator, but normal work as a Power User or other user. This reduces the likelihood of hackers or malware getting installed in your computer.

How do I set password to my Curzer
sansa dosent make the cruzer so im asumming you mean the sandisk cruzer, you'll need to install some software to it in order to do so, unfortunatley it will only work in a windows environment, some drives come with the retai lsoftware on them, U3 for example, you may also beable to secure it with windows xp encryption and/or compresion tools, Try downloading and installing the free version of folder lock, not sure if its limited to a time trial or not but other software is out there, try searching for portable apps or flash drive security, Short of buying a new drive this is the only way to password protect it, that i know of anyway, be carful thought some windows pc's will not let you use a password protected removable media unless you are an administrator or have sufficient privileges on that system.
