That would probably be because this computer comes standard with a DVD drive and not a Blu Ray drive. You must have a Blu Ray drive to read Blu Ray discs.

Although the same shape and size, Blue Ray disks are a completely different format to DVD's and CD's. You drive won't recognise them

You'll need to get a Blue ray RW drive, and it doesn't stop there. Because there a great deal more information on a blueray disk, you'll need several dvd disks to copy the info to a DVD.

Bluerays hold about 25Gb of data, DVD's hold 4.7 GB and CD's hold 700Mb data.

All real movies are copy protected.
google that and read.
blu-ray are 10x more protected, by DESIGN GOAL #1
that practice, you are doing is called RIPPING
so learn to google blu-ray ripping (how to rip blu-ray) do it.

e525 has no blu-ray drive so ripping has no chance.
the cure is external USB blu-ray drive, again google that.
buy one and rip with software that does that (many)

It shows that your machine comes with a CD-ROM Drive. You need to get and install a Blu-ray drive onto your computer first and the you will be able to copy Blu-ray movies. You also need to get a Blu-ray copying program to do this job.

Can't play Blu Ray but still plays dvds help

You can try a firmware install to see if that cures the problem of a corrupted software. If no results then the laser assembly has lost its ability to read blu ray disks.

Can you upgrade a machine E525 to run blu-ray,

It's not really possible to do this internally. It would cost you more than the original price of the laptop to do so.
You can plug in an external drive to accomplish this. Here is an example of one drive: http://www.amazon.com/Blu-Ray-Player-Laptop-External-Burner/dp/B001UDTTJE

Laptop cant detect discs

Hi, Unfortunalty this is an hardware failure there is nothing you can do. If you are under warranty i suggest you to contact the reseller/manufacturer to get a replacement unit, it should be no problem at all this is a common issue. HDD,batteries, power adapter are the weakiest part of your system and generate the heaviest part of hardware failure on computers.
Thanks and have a nice day J -

Driver of blu ray for my aspire 5536

The standard specs for all of the 5536 models show equipped with a Super-Multi drive which capable of many CD and DVD formats including double layer DVD. However, I don't see support for Blu-Ray.

You could add an external Blu-Ray that connects to USB or FireWire (1394).

Sony BDP-S300 keeps skipping Blu-ray discs and then say's can't read disc.

The most common problem with blu-ray discs in blu-ray players like the BDP-S300 seems to be related to firmware issues. You can download the latest firmware from the Sony website here. Once burned to a disc on your computer you load the disc into the blu-ray player to update it.

I hope that helps.
