2 thoughts. 1, with both green and orange lights flashing the manual indicates that that means that the battery is not charged. This site provided an answer to a similar question that suggested cleaning around the battery area [see Bill BS answer to Wendy]. 2, To you and Wendy, I had a similar problem and a call to Olympus suggested the likely problem was not battery related. When you open the slide, and if you press down on the cover, around where the "s" on olympus appears, that keeps the lens extended. Don't know why that is, or how to permanently fix, but it seemed to work.

Battery light flashes green 5 times, then changes to orange.

The flashing green indicator is telling you (and the notebook) that the battery is almost fully charged, but then by switching immediately to flashing orange, the status has changed to "battery charge is low". This is not normal behaviour and probably indicates a serious issue with the battery. My guess is that the charging is initiating some kind of rapid battery self-discharge.

Try to operate yours this way. This will eliminate the battery from the loop as a potential cause of the BSODs you are seeing.

Battery not charging

Sounds like it could be two things with that, first look at the battery symbol, is it flashing orange or is it green. If its flashing orange means you have a bad battery, if its solid green all ok, if its switching between green and yellow its charging. if the symbol isn't lit at all it doesn't detect your battery and try to remove and reinsert battery. Next look at the plug light, is it green?

Orange light flashes on when turn on Olympus c-50 zoom camera and orange and green lights in upper left corner blink when try to take pictures. Won't take any pictures

The flashing Orange light means the charge is flashing.
The flashing Green light means the focus and exposure are not correct.

Have you recently replaced the batteries? Or are you using rechargeable batteries? Lack of enough "Juice" could allow for the flash to not charge up (Orange) therefore not allowing the camera to get the correct exposure (Green). I would try new fresh batteries or a new battery pack. If that doesn't fix the issue it must be a bad circuitry in the body that is shorting not letting the flash charge.

Jacob

My Sony Vaio battery light remains orange

If the laptop battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out. Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles and will lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% and gradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all.
OR The battery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the battery drops off to zero capacity in a very short time.
If the battery drops to an unacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced.

I have a laptop and there seems to be a light currently flashing orange along the front. Ive searched everywhere to find out whats happened but the laptop won't switch on at all. Its a toshiba Prestege...

The flashing light on the front of your laptop is a low battery warning. There probably isn't enough power in the battery to turn on the laptop. You need to plug in the ac power adaptor and let the battery charge until the battery light turns from 'orange', to 'green'.

Dell Latitude C610 battery claims its too hot to charge....

The charge light flashing orange-orange-orange-green....-orange-orange-orange-green.... usually means the battery has reached the end of its life and now it needs replacing.

There are three ways to test your battery:

1) If the battery has a button on the bottom of it and a row of 5 leds, then push AND HOLD the button for 5 seconds. The LEDs should all turn OFF, then turn back on showing a pattern. If all five LEDs turn on, the battery is dead.

2) Open the Dell Quickset application (doubleclick it in system tray), go to Battery Meter, go to the battery health tab, and pick your battery. It should tell you there if the battery is healthy or not.

3) Reboot your computer and go into the bios. Pick the Battery tab in the bios. It will list the battery health there.
