Picture file size too big when loaded into easyshare software

When I load pictures from my camera (kodak DX7440) into easyshare software on my computer the photos end up being around 900mb. This has only happened since I upgraded the easyware software. The picture files take so long to email that it uses up valuable ISP time. How can I fix this problem?

Will Kodak download the Easyshare software to connect my DX7440 to my computer?

You may download the Kodak software from here.

You don't need to use the Kodak software, however. The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

I am trying to download photos to my pc. All plugged in the the Device Connected box ins blank. Any ideas - its driving me nuts!

OK, when I use my Kodak Easy share cameras on a fresh computer that hasn't downloaded Kodak pictures before I do the following:

Load Easyshare software onto the machine, and install it.

Then, I connect the camera to the computer.

Then, I open the Easyshare software and it may ask a few questions.

Next, I watch the computer (Windows 7) as it loads the proper driver for my camera.

Finally, I click on transfer pictures and I am set with my pictures.

The pictures should show up in the Start Menu's picture under Kodak Pictures.

You should be done.

Let me know how it works out with the Easyshare software downloaded to the computer before trying to load pictures on to the computer.

Why won't some of my photos transfer to the picture files? These photos are treated as if they are duplicates which they aren't.

I spoke to someone on the IM chat at the kodak website, and took me through the steps that seems to get around that problem, if its a kodak c913. they are; open the easyshare software. connect your camera. if a transfer window opens automatically, close it. in the easyshare software window open the 'add picture button'. then select the folder with the name of your camera 'kodak c913'. all your pictures should load as if it would through the automatic transfer window, select whatever pictures you want to add, clock add pictures, then done, and it doesnt come up with the error message of the software believing there is duplicates.

Sony picture utility for DSC-W80 Need Help

Most picture software will work with any camera. I have a Cannon and use Kodak's software, which you can get from
www.kodak.com
go to support center---click on software--click on Easyshare software support--click on Easyshare software Downloads--click on Kodak Easyshare Software "Download" when the box comes up, "Run". It is great software. When you hook up your camera or SD card it will recognize it and you can load your pictures into it.
Try it, I love it.
I also have a Kodak all in one 5300. The Easyshare software is the same you can print with in the stores. So if you have a Kodak printer no need to go to the store and print your photos.

2 GB memory card for digital camera

The number of pictures that a memory card will store will depend completely on the file size of each picture. 750 pictures on a 2gb memory card would be around 2.5mb average each picture, which is more than adequate for basic shots - with a higher resolution the picture size can easily exceed this. Here is the link for the user manual for your camera; http://www.kodak.com/global/plugins/acrobat/en/service/manuals/urg00261/DX7440_GLB_en.pdf Check page 20 - explains how to change the picture taking settings including the resolution/ file size. Also check page 53 - it explains the storage capacity of different memory cards at different resolutions. The manual suggests that the camera can only deal with a maximum card size of 512Mb, so it is possible that although a 2Gb card appears to work, the camera can only utilize the first 512Mb of the card. Hope this helps, please ask again if not :)

Using kodak easyshare for reducing image size

Just for fun and for you I opened the Kodak software. Here's the steps to shrink an image. I will not be using their software for this feature! 1. Open the Kodak main application. 2. Find your picture and right-click, EDIT it. 3. Click (in the editor) the Save As button and set the Resize Picture to the percent you want. IRFANVIEW seems easier. Bob
