Put a disc in the player and note it's position. Close and let it start loading. If it doesn't load, eject the DVD and note it's position. If it hasn't moved iit could be either a broken belt or the drive motor I think> _/)***
The laser lens could just be dirty, or it could be on it's last leg. I'd recommend cleaning the laser first, laser replacement would cost more then the machine itself is worth.
to clean the lens you'll need to buy a lens cleaner.its a cd which cleans.so its no problem to load it.now if even the lens cleaner is not loading ,i suggest you bring it to a tech nearest you.
This of course may not be the exact same thing, but mine did the same thing. Sounding like it was loading, but in fact pressing the open button it I could see the disc not spining at all (normally you would.) With the power off of course. I took all the bottom screws out (where ever the arrow points to a screw) including to the display. There is one ribbon cable easily disconnected. I lifted the mount the DVD sits on and reseated it. I put a disc in it, turned on the power and the disc turned. Great I thought. I reconnect the cable, put the screws back in - and its working.
I just fixed this problem. This will not fix any underlying problem, but it will get you up and running again. THIS MIGHT SCRATCH THE CD.
Unplug the unit. Remove the top cover. There are screws on the side and the back. Once you do you will see the dvd is not in correct position. Slide it around till you feel it drop into place. YES, YOU MAY END UP SCRATCHING THE CD. Plug the unit back in and it will eject.
For me the underlying problem is that the disc drawer closes while I am putting the cd in, causing it to not be seated properly. If anyone knows how to fix this .....
