I have a similar issue. When the digital switch happened here some of the local TV stations changed frequencies from UHF to VHF. I do not have a VHF antenna so I am unable to receive these channels. I do have a great UHF antenna, but it will not receive VHF. The fix is of course is a new UHF/VHF antenna. I am 50 miles away from the TV transmitters.

This may or may not be your problem. I hope this is helpful to you.

Poor picture quality on alba LCD TV after recent digital switchover.

Digital TV uses less airspace than analogue TV, so after the digital switchover there'll also be more room for services such as high-speed mobile broadband and high-definition television (HD TV).

Lost BBC1 BBC2 digital after switchover

You might have more than one transmitter. Some TV's etc only store a certain number of channels and have a max amount!. When weaker transmitters are present sometimes the memory of the TV will only store the stronger signals first from these weaker sites, with the two BBC channels being too weak to be detected.
The solution is to do a manual search on the transmitters you know are very strong. For example if channel 43 has strong signal you would search on that. The auto search will start at 21 and work it's way to 69. But if your area transmitter with the strongest signals is high up the scale the weaker transmitters will be selected first!

How do i tune the channels on a toshiba rc3910

Hi
Before tuning the set to auto tune mode, make sure the antenna or cable, whatever may, connected to its appropriate sockets at the back of the set firmly. To make it autotune:

As new services are broadcast, it will be necessary to

re-tune the television in order to view them.

Auto Tuning will completely re-tune the television

and can be used to update the channel list. It is

recommended that Auto Tuning is run periodically to
ensure that all new services are added. All current

channels and settings, i.e. locked channels, will be
lost.

[1] Select the SETUP from the main menu by using

Up or Down buttons. Press OK and Setup menu
will be displayed.

[2] Select the Installation from the Setup menu

by using Up or Down buttons. Press OK and
Installation menu will be displayed.

]3] Select Automatic Channel Scan from the Installation

menu by using Up or Down buttons and press OK.

A screen will appear warning that previous digital

programmes and settings will be deleted. Select Yes
and press OK to continue with the Auto tuning.

The television will start to search for all available

stations. You must allow the television to complete

the search. When the search is complete the Auto

tuning screen will display the total number of
services found.

* After search is completed for digital channels, a

message asking whether to search for analogue
channels appears on the screen

** Press the OK button to search for analogue

channels. The following menu appears on the screen
for analogue channel search
OK.

Hitachi TV - no signal on DTV since switchover

Hi It sounds like you need to re-tune your DVB-Tuner on your TV, NOT the old analogue one, it'll be in settings or setup, or installation and use the "First Time Install" option, because it clears all old channels and loads all fresh new ones! hope this helps!

No BBC channels available after retuning Sony Trinitron TV

When TV channels are moved from one frequency to another frequency that was previously used by a different channel (sorry, but there's no simple way of saying that !) as has happened recently in th UK, some digital TVs and digiboxes struggle to sort the channel list out properly and channels can go missing as you describe.

If your equipment has the option to delete all currently stored channels (normally in the tuning menu options) then do so and then do a full re-tune.
Sometimes, this solves the problem as the equipment is no longer aware of any previous use of a frequency and just loads every channel it finds.

If this doesnt work, or your equipment doesnt have the option, then there is normally the option soemwhere in the menus to retore the item to "factory defaults/configuration". This will clear all previously stored channels and after a full re-tune your missing chanels should be there. However, any other configuration changes you previously made, e.g picture size, output type (RGB/NSCT/etc), etc will be lost and you'll need to set these again.

NB. some regions of the country have lost some channels temporarily now until after the switch over programme completes at the end of 2012. If you visit the Freeview website, this will tell you if your area is affected.

Problems withthe digital switchover and retuning my freeview box!

There are a few problems turning up as a result of the update. Do a factory settings on the box if it has the option to do so. Be aware of the actual transmitter you are on and the channels/frequencies it uses so when tuning you know whether its finding channels at the bottom, middle or top of the band. Sometimes you may need to unplug the aerial upto or after a particular channel to stop the box tuning unwanted transmitters. If you are picking more than 1 transmitter up you will often get extra channels in wrong locations

Digital switchover

I also have the Sony IDTV KD-28DX4OU Digital TV.After the digital switchover I lost BBC1 and BBC2 despite retuning three times.
I contacted Digital switchover people (useless) and they passed the buck to Sony.I contacted Sony and they said they cannot fix the problem and that I should get a digital set top box. So the £650 I spent on integrated Digital TV has been wasted. If like me your cheesed off with this then I suggest you complain here
