lost the manual right? in the box new, but lost. call your seller and ask for the manual? it is not a computer at all so moved yah to Television forum. so now you might get hits.and use the JVC african web site is the only place you can get a manual not wrong as our USA site would fail. did the TV new ,was it sold in AFRICA?>or else where. if not there where, , tell JVC that not me, set the time, my TV has no time. so yours must be unique. or 785 here shows press menu button push << or ?>>. to time menu. push ^ or down to set time. ok to end done. best is a manual matching your exact TV and there are none here.

moved you to television forum random model not told. lost the remote first TV ever? and batteries died in remote, I am on set 24 batteries in 12 years. see how batteries sux all TVs have reset, ever read the manual first after all no 2 TVs are the same. so we read the manual screen is dead but are menus dead. the rear of all TV s made a label and we read it and the model is there. like my wild guessed one top of this page;. post you real model or get no answers correct. ever. if TV is older than 2010 CCFL lamps inside are dead. use flashlight to see that is ture or not. on my TV the red LED goes out turned on, so you do no have to start at it forever, a huge pain that but must turn out or PSU is dead in TV or the silly batteries in the remote are dead, or weak read that word 2 times for effect, WEAk.

Shut TV off. Reset TV & router and any cable or DSL modems by unplugging for a good minute then plug them all back in and wait at least a minute or two for all to reboot.

it needs service, that means using tools and meters and spare parts to find cause. dead screen black screened at all times.? even in HD TV antenna mode for HD TV? or just the remote CLICKER batteries dead. tell things that work and no not work , even LED actions. the maker has no books on this old TV https://jvcproducts.com/us/contact/support.html here they are ask them>? what rare TV. good luck fixing any RARE TV. moved you to TELEVISION.

Okay, I found a fix! Called JVC, spoke to somebody there, here it is:
1)unplug the TV completely, no wall no power strips, completely
2)wait 10 sec
3)plug TV back in and Turn it on, the light will still be doing the same thing
4)wait 30 sec
5)ON THE TV, not the remote, locate the menu, volume (-) and power button.
6)while simultaneously holding down the menu and volume (-) button, pressed the power button ONCE and continue to hold the other 2 for 10 sec.
7)on the remote control, go to menu>settings>system info
*** now this I know as a FACT will work on systems that display: JVC - ver.5.32FO001, but I don't know of any other versions***
8)press the mute button on the remote twice
9)unplugg TV again and wait 10 sec.
10) plug TV in and turn on

It SHOULD be working normally now... Thanx to the guys a JVC support for this one, I know it seems like an obvious first place to look, but sometimes it isn't. I for one checked online forums first

Please my jvc television couldnt change to stellite channel when i was offing it mistakenly pressss the +button i have been trying to change channels but i couldnt please is there any solution to that?please i need urgent help

you tube might have blown ouy that's a big problem.Next time make sure you plug your TV in a surcharge protector

To start, this TV should not require service remote to access service menu or adjustment menu.

In service menu also there is not a single reset option, but the technician must set the values one at the time.

About the part purchased, I could not find any JVC 87274RS remote control. Please check the number, include any dash or spaces, and include any info you have on the part, so that we can spread light on this.

About the problem it does not sound like something that "just need a reset" it looks like HDMI port is defective, and you should be entitled to get a technician at home if the unit is still in warranty (check it out).

Here how to get in service mode. You use the standard remote. Do not change values in service mode or you can damage the TV:



I uploaded here a service manual for the 40'' of same chassis.I do not have the 42''. Service mode, most parts and functions are the same. Panel size and frame are different.

I am guessing the CCFL tube is starting to burn out. Replacing is not impossible but somewhat delicate process. Since the TV is that old i would recommend you to buy new TV instead when it goes completely dead.

Return it to your place of purchase and get something else anything else you wouldn't believe how many people are having Issues with the LT series get rid of it.

you didn't say what kind of antenna you have attached to the TV. The antenna is very important and the type of antenna you need is based on where you are in relationship to the television stations in your area. Even being down a hill In the area can be a problem for antenna television. I had to put an antenna in my attic because an in-door antenna could not pick up the signals for the TV stations in my area, I am down a hill.

sounds like the remote batteries could be bad or the buttons on the remote need to be cleaned. some JVC TV remotes, I'm not familiar with this particular one though, can be cleaned using a clean pencil eraser. Be careful opening the remote because some parts can fall out or you can damage the connections to the LED emitter that sends the signal to the TV. Also the solder connections on that LED could be bad.

sounds to me like the fluorescent backlighting is going bad in the top half of your set.
