Is the tv an lcd or a crt? and how are you connecting it with composite (red white and yellow) component (red blue green white red) or hdmi? if through composite or component is the ps3 set on the right connection? if through hdmi is your tv HDCP compliant? if not than it prob won't work till you do the firmware updates on your ps3 via a broadband connection. if it still does not work than you won't be able to connect it to that tv only to a tv (and surprise surpirse all sony lcds are HDCP compliant) that is HDCP. it normally says in the instruction manual. Unfortunatly HDMI connection is not the godsend they said it would be. if the device does not immediatly talk to what you are pluggin it into than you are going to have problems

Your ps3 could be in component mode. You will have to hook it back up on component mode, and go to the ps3 menu and change the setting to hdmi.

For real try this:
Turn off the tv as well as the ps3 (to where the red ps3 light is on); Then just hold down the power button in the front for like 15 seconds or so, at least until you hear a beep. Then turn the Tv back on, and hopefully once you get the tv back on the correct hdmi input, you'll see that little message offering you to switch to optimum settings.
Hope it works. Did for me.

if you are getting sound, then chances are its the back light.

Replaceing the back light will cost about $400 but who knows i may be wrong, you need to explain your situation a little more vividly :)

if you are not afraid to get in to the back of tv, the chassie has 4 different fans, you can unplug the tv remove all of the screws on the back, and remove the lamp door, there are about 5 plugs on the top of the chassie that plugs in the tv,donot unplug these plugs ,you can pull the chassie out of tv until you run out of wire on the plugs, then plug the tv in,turn the tv on, and you might hear the fan thats bad. If you are not comfortable with this call a repair man,the fans are not that expensive, and are pretty easy to change.i can guide you thru the replacement process if you need my help.

Fault to the main power supply regulator section. Either it will be a separate board, or the part of main board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. http://electro-medical.blogspot.com/ It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge)

As a first step , if it is controlled via the remote, check that the remote batteries are good and that it is functioning ok. Does the tv show anything att all? If it does come on but shows nothing then it might be that the source selection is on the wrong kind of source, you can find on the remote whether this is so by going to the source menu which should probably be on digital. (I am assuming that you only have digital broadcasts where you are. If there is no picture whatsoever ubplug the set and check whether the internal fuse(s) are ok.)

That blinking light is an indicator for possible service. If you TV has a consumable lamp, please check that before recommending service.
