I have foxconn N68S7AA motherboard. Sometimes my machine just wont turn on, i can hear a clicking noise, not sure if its speaker or hdd. The debug LED is dead too during this time. After powering on and off several times, the debug LED lights up and the machine turns on too. Not sure what the deal is.

What is making the clicking noise? Is it the case speaker or the hard drive?

Do you use a surge protector?

  • Anonymous Jan 04, 2008

Do you have a spare psu that you could change to? Think something got damaged during the surge/cut of power perhaps.

Try resetting the bios via the cmos jumper on the motherboard...long shot but worth a try.

Green light blinking on logic board

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices.

If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty.

Blinking green light front and back. Clicking sound from inside.

Do you mean the little green LED light near where you plug the power cable into the back of the computer? If that's the blinking light then unfortunately, this means that power is getting to the power supply but it is not going from the Power Supply to the Motherboard/Devices. The power supply is broken and is not converting the power from the wall to the proper voltage for the Motherboard/Devices. You will have to replace the power supply.

Call HP, and I hope you are in warranty and get it replaced for free or you can order the exact same one from HP that originally comes with that model. 1-800-HP-INVENT for their tech support line.

PC will not power up

Check that the ram memory hasn't come unseated from the mobo. If you are using an above board video card also check that it is properly seated as well.

The clicking noise from the PSU is kinda perplexing though...

HP Compaq d530

it all depends on the number of flashes , pause, repeat.
Since the problem did not indicate any beeps her is the following info

Power LED blinks RED 2 times, one every second, followed by a
2-second pause. = Processor Thermal Protection Activated

3 blinks 1 second apart = Processor not installed (not an indicator for a bad processor).

4 blinks 1 second apart .= Power Failure (power supply is overloaded)

Other possibilities are:
5 blinks 1 second apart No memory
