check the connector between the radio and face. if they are dirty or bent in too far the radio face will not work. the radio know that the face is on but there is no power flow through the connector. you can use a pencil erasr to clean the contacts.

i'm not sure if there is a flexible cable that goes from the face to the motherboard. if there is, that could be the problem. it could also be a bad switch.

Reset the player by pressing ON/STAND BY button and simulatenously press preset << and preset>> buttons of the unit.
This will reset the microprocessor of the player.

Try resetting the CD (Cambridge soundworks) by unplugging, then repluging. Then hold down the eject button while you turn on the power.

Try pulling it out of the bracket and checking the fuse or jiggling the wires ;o

You may have a bad contact on the faceplate or on the main head unit. You can try cleaning the electrical contacts with a small amount of rubbing alcohol and a cotton swab. If this doesn't help, then you may need either piece serviced. Often times the solder joints on the PC boards inside the head unit or inside the face may need to be repaired. A local stereo shop can check for this or a local electronics repair can look for "cold solder joints"

I just had the exact same problem today, but the radio responds to the remote and buttons on the face. I can eject cds and everything but the display will not work when the face is up. I cleaned the contacts on teh face pice with no resolution to the problem.
