Dryer starts fine, runs fine, heats fine, but makes a clicking / rattling sound while running. Sound is coming from rear, like where metal tube is connected.

Dryer takes 2 or 3 cycles to dry

A Whirlpool dryer either heats or doesn't heat . This problem is an indication of a blocked vent hose , from the rear of the dryer to the outside vent outlet . Try removing the vent hose from the back of the dryer and dry a load , to verify this problem . Wet lint inside the hose also means the air cannot escape to the outside .

When we turn on our Whirlpool Supreme electric dryer, it heats up and dries clothes, but it is making a loud squeaking noise throughout the cycle...sometimes louder than others.

The squeaking noise can be caused by any of the following.

Location High:

Belt slipping on the dryer drum

Worn Drum seals but would sound more like a dragging noise

Location Low:

Belt tensioner pulley bearing frozen and the idler pulley shaft is spinning inside the belt tensioner assy.

Belt slipping on the motor bearing

Motor bearing is dry

Thanks for using FixYa!

My dryer runs but does not heat up or dry clothes. What could be the problem?

I have a Kenmore dryer and it runs but won't heat up and dry the clothes. I don't hear the ignition even turn over. Please help. I can't afford to buy a new dryer at this time.

The dryer makes a loud grinding clattering noice when its on. We just moved it across the country. It was working fine before we left. The one that was here is squeaking and can run for several cycles...

try opening the door and seeing if the drum has shifted and is rubbing on the frt panel somewhere,it may have just shifted off the drum glides or bearing seat/the other one sounds as if the element is open(bad)if the other one heats fine,if both take long periods to dry clothes, ckeck for 120/240 at the main house panel and again same at dryer outlet plug-in receptacle

Dryer heats, tumbles clothes, blows air out exhause vent, but wont dry clothes

what type is this electric or gas? have you removed the exsaust from the wall and ran a load like this? if you have heat and this is an electric dryer it sounds like you have a blockage in your house. if the dryer runs fine without the exsaust attached then that is your problem. let me know

Maytag dryer squeaks during cycle

if replacing the rollers didn't fix the squeak, you need to replace the teflon drum slides and drum gasket material. mine sqalled so much it would run you out of the room. now it's quiet.
