Bass level is the same @ all volume levels

I have a rockford Fosgate p5002 (500watt, 2 channel amp) hooked to a 10" infinity perfect sub. With the volume @ 1 the bass is just as loud as if the volume was at 20. Also the amp does not turn of when the stareo is turned off. I am thinking it is something with the wiring but I don;t know what. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance for your time and response,
John T.

Your problem is the wiring... but it is really hard for me to see where the problem is..

is there a way for you to send a picture of what you have done?

  • Anonymous Dec 26, 2007

    i
doubt you have to buy anything else for that..
i also doubt that the problems are the built in amps (unless you have the stereo connected to the built in amps and then to the sub) which in there might be the miss connection..

what i mainly suggest you is make a bridge from the out of the amp to the sub.. i hope this lil diagram i did in mspaint gives you a clearer idea..the circles are the channels.. you have to connect it from the fardest sides.. in the amp you could see the diagram that gives you the hint for the bridging..

also, be sure that you have that amp only for your sub, because if you are connecting anything else to the amp, you arent going to get a good sound and could damage the amp in not-so-long term

My amp is on but when the bass hits it pulls the sub back and it goes into protect mod what can i do to fix this?

You may have a woofer with an impedance that is not correct for your amplifier, or possibly a damaged woofer. Try hooking up a different sub in your car without moving your amp, see if it does the same thing. If it does your amp has an internal issue. If it doesn't you know it's the sub.

I have a Kenwood KAC-9105D amp with 2 Rockford fosgate 10 inch subs in a sealed box. When i turn the volume up loud the bass fades out for a few secs and then comes back to being loud again, this keeps...

It's the battery, not enough juice to supply your amp at loud volumes so the bass will drop out especially on long bass notes. Replace your battery!

I was given a kenwood kac742, what do i have to do to hook up 2 subs to it tom

You need:
1) 2 4-ohm subs
2) Appropriate enclosure
3) Amp wiring kit with RCA's

Connect each sub to a separate channel and set both mode switches to "MONO" (center position). In 2-channel mode, this amp is only rated at 80 Watts RMS, so you need relatively small and efficient subs. I'd say nothing bigger than 8" or perhaps 10". Rockford-Fosgate P1S48 (8") and R1S410 (10") will work OK with 50-150 watts RMS. Some others will also.

Subs not as loud as they should be plz help

RCA output level and speaker level output have different voltages and currents. The problem you are describing is common to folks trying to connect an OEM dash unit to an aftermarket amp. If your amp has speaker level inputs, try wiring to those......best bet..buy a new head unit, it'll sound better...louder and cleaner.

Quick question, amp problem

make sure you ground wires arent shared, meaning run each ground wire from each amp to its own grounding point

Amp Issues

1) Make sure a bridged load of no less than 4 ohms is applied.
2) make sure both the left & right channels are working.

Sub woofer wiring

If you have a 500a2 and two 4 ohm single voice coil speakers, you have only one option. Connect one speaker to each channel.
