My SD 2gb card just became unreadable

I don't know what happened - I used the card, for a week now on my vacation - 500+ pictures and videos, and all of a sudden it became unreadable. I'm really depressed here ... **HELP***

  • Anonymous Sep 25, 2009

I use it for my camera. I've been using the card for the past week in my vacation - over 500 pictures and videos shot, and then I connected it through a card reader to a computer.
I'm thinking a power surge in the computer's usb ports has fried something in the card, because no computer/card reader would even recognize it. Not even my camera.

Hmmm try running Undelete on it. There are free versions, here is a link to one: http://majorgeeks.com/downloadget.php?id=4407&file=1&evp=3346a8401ada2b5e3bc1fb27693170be

Install that, then run it on memory card, I have recovered thousands of pictures for people using this method.

Hope this helps

Make sure you're using a microSD card, 2GB and smaller, and not a higher-capacity microSDHC card.

If you're using a SD card adapter to connect it to your computer, please verify that the adapter lock switch isn't active, this can set your SD as read only.

Display reads "images recorded in internal memory" but there are none and I can't take more than 4 pictures until the camera says the memory is full. Also the memory card says it is full after 7 pictures,...

hi, the memory card you are using is to small for the camera it has not got enough memory on it you need to get at least a 1gb memory card or 2gb memory this will then allow you to take between 500 and 1000 pictures the 16mb card you have in is not worth using it will only hold a couple of pictures so go to the well known auction site and buy a 2gb memory card of the same type such as sd card or micro sd or mini sd it should tell you on the 16mb card what type it is then just buy the same type but with either 1gb or 2gb or even 4gb of memory this will then let you take 1000s of pictures

the 16mb card is no good in your camera get a bigger card and your problem will be solved

let me know if you have any problems with the new card ok

I know other people have had this problem - but can't find a solution. I have a Canon Powershot SX200 with a Simpletech 2GB memory card, after taking 185+ pictures on vacation the card says it's locked,...

Hi,
Is the card locked? A small switch on the card in the lock position? If that isn't the case you may want to consider having a professional recover these photos. Once I have more information I can assist you further.
Thank you,

Buy a 1GB card (or 2). The spec for the SD card format is going to 2GB but the Kodak C330 not compatible with 2 GB SD memory cards.

Can I use an 8GB SD mem card in my Vivicam 8300s?

No you can't. I tried a 2gb chip and it was too big. But 1gb works just fine and it holds LOTS of pics, the only time I filled the chip was a 2 week vacation to Europe. So just carry several with you.
