Media Card Cannot be Accessed due to Fatal Errors

I have a Blackberry Bold that I purchased about 6 weeks ago. About two weeks ago I had problems with the media card and had to have it replaced. Now the second media card has problems. I cannot see anything stored on the media card and am getting an error message saying: Media card cannot be accessed due to fatal errors. Could the phone somehow be corrupting the media cards? Has anyone else had the same problem? How can I resolve this matter?

Sorry to hear your problem.
I have a Blackberry Curve that did the same thing to me. I had a 8gb micro SD in there for a few month and suddenly all my data was gone . I also could not reformat disk either. Never fixed the problem ans was forced to buy a new card.

Some questions to ask are:
How old is the second disk?

think of your daily patterns are you going around some area or working around something that could damage your card?

again, sorry for your misfortune. I thought my feedback would let you know you are not alone this happens to these memory cards and it it hard to pinpoint to problem.

try one more card and monitor your daily routine, x-rays, airport scanner, high magnetic areas all can do damage. Otherwise it may be the phone.

Hi there,

You need to get a reader/writer like this one;
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...
I use this one because it support all the latest formats. Older readers might not read the SDHC (High Capacity) format and you don't nead that. Pop the reader into a USB port and the card will show in File Explorer just like a hard drive. Right click it and select Format. Go with FAT32 format for most storage cards.
Post back if it is not working we will be happy to help you.
Hope this helps.
Cheers!!!!

Hi my blackberry 8520 says my memory card can not be accessed due to fatal errors. pls what can i do???

Hi there. Have you tried a different memory card? With the one that is giving you an error I would try formatting it on your computer and see if this helps. when you connect the card to the computer you should right click on it and then select format. Make sure it is formatted as FAT or FAT32 and then try it again in your phone.

Connect the media card to a computer using a USB card reader to back up the contents. Chances are the media will be readable from a computer. Once you've backed up the contents, save it to your hard drive and format the media card from your blackberry. Reinsert the card into the USB reader to restore your media files.
