SanDisk Sansa e250 MP3 Player Logo
Posted on Dec 14, 2007

USB Mode I just bought a Sansa e250. It tells me to switch to MTP Mode. It says to go to Settings/USB Mode. My player does not have USB Mode anywhere in the menu. I went to the store and looked at one, and sure enough, it had USB Mode under Settings-mine does not! How do I get that setting? Help!

Sansa e250 MP3 Player: The computer won't acknowledge that my Sansa E250 ...

Hope this helps. See the section about the hot fix first----- If you are using Windows XP: you need the following. Windows XP SP2 or higher Windows Media Player 10 or higher Download and install the latest Windows Media Player if it's not installed. If you are using Windows Vista: If the player is seen in My Computer when using MTP mode, but not showing in Windows Media Player. Download the hotfix from-->>> http://support.microsoft.com/kb/939211. Run the hotfix. Refresh the players driver Connect the Sansa player to the PC The screen on your player should turn on, show 'Connected' and indicate the battery charging or full. If the player does not turn on try other USB ports or on another computer if one is readily available. Ensure you are connecting directly to the computer USB port and not to a USB hub. - If there is nothing showing on the screen and the player does show up in as a storage device in an explorer window, then the screen is just not working. If you receive the error "USB Device Not Recognized" on the computer, the player is most likely failed. Additional troubleshooting is unlikely to correct the problem. Check under Device Manager 1. Right-click My Computer, and select Manage. 2. Click Device Manager on the left pane. NOTE: Sansa MP3 Players can connect to your computer in MSC or MTP mode. Exceptions are Sansa Connect and Sansa Express which only use MTP mode. MTP mode is the recommended and default method for Sansa Players when used with Windows OS. The Sansa player will show up on Device Manager's right pane as: 1. USB Mass Storage device (if the player is set to MSC) 2. Portable Device (if the player is set to MTP mode) If there is a yellow exclamation point (!) or question mark (?) beside the device, try to refresh the drivers. Refresh the drivers 1. Right-click the entry with the error mark, select Uninstall. 2. On the top menu, click Action then select Scan for hardware changes. NOTE: If a device with yellow exclamation point (!) continually appears and disappears, then the player is most likely failed. Additional troubleshooting is unlikely to correct the problem. Connect using MSC mode Connecting in MSC mode will help determine if there is a problem with MTP mode or with the Auto Detect mode feature of the player. You can use Forced MSC mode or switch the player settings to MSC. Instructions to connect in Forced MSC mode are listed here: http://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/61 Instructions to switch player to MSC mode are listed here: http://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/207 If the player is detected in MSC mode but not when set to MTP mode, try to update or reinstall the Sansa firmware NOTE: Sansa Express and Sansa Connect do not have MSC mode. For Sansa Connect you can try reinstalling the firmware using the Connect Recovery Mode. Additional troubleshooting notes: If you have replaced the Sansa Player and you still have problems getting it to recognize in the computer, then you may need to try some additional troubleshooting. - Try connecting on another computer. - Try using a different USB cable - Try connecting to the back USB ports which may supply better power. - If only MTP mode is not working, try reinstalling Windows Media Player For Windows XP try also download and install the MTP Porting Kit ......

SanDisk Sansa e250 MP3 Player with Mac? Is there any driver to make it compatible with Mac platform? Thank you

NOTE: MAC computers do NOT support MTP modes of USB conectivity in a MP player. A Sansa player in MTP mode when plugged into a MAC computer will NOT be detected or recognized. MAC computers supports Sansa players in MSC mode Sansa players can only be recognized by a MAC if the USB mode on the Sansa player is set to Auto Detect or MSC.
Check in the System Profiler Open System Profiler from the Utilities folder, which is inside the Applications folder. From the Contents column on the left, under the Hardware header, select USB; the panel to the right will show all the USB devices that the computer recognizes. It may not identify them correctly by name, but it should have the right number of devices listed. . Navigate to USB Mode settings. Sansa View - From the Main Menu, select More > Settings/Options > System Settings > USB Mode.
Sansa Fuze and Sansa Clip+ - From the Main Menu, select Settings > System Settings > USB Mode.
Sansa Clip, e200v1 series, e200v2 series and e200R - From the Main Menu, select Settings > USB Mode.
2. Select Auto Detect, MTP or MSC. e200R - PlayforSure is MTP and Rhapsody is MSC
See this tip posted here on this site for a better explanation on the modes - MTP and MSC. Solve your MP3 Player Connection Problem.

My Sansa m240 is saying there is no music on it when i plug it in the computer the music is really still there...what do i do?

Look for changing the USB mode of the device to MSC or MTP
Go to USB Mode settings. if you have a Sansa View - From the Main Menu, select More -> Settings/Options -> System Settings -> USB Mode.
if you have a Sansa Fuze - From the Main Menu, select Settings > System Settings > USB Mode.
if you have a Sansa Clip, e200v1 series, e200v2 series and e200R - From the Main Menu, select Settings > USB Mode.
Select Auto Detect, MTP or MSC. e200R - PlayforSure is MTP and Rhapsody is MSC
NOTE: The USB mode is not selectable for Sansa View (FW 1.03.XX and below), Sansa e200v2 (FW 03.01.14 and below), and Sansa Clip (FW 1.01.11 and below). The USB Mode setting can be enabled on these players using a firmware update.

I turn on my sansa e250 it goes to refresh database, then blanks

There are two connection settings in USB: MTP and MSC. For some reason MTP is the default, but it doesn't connect properly on all computers. Select MSC and plug the player in again, the computer will recognize sansa e250 but not show the driver just yet. It is installing recognition software (just basic drivers - nothing heavy) and it doesnt tell you what its doing until its complete. WAIT FOR IT. Once it is complete you will see both the sansa e250 and the removable memory slot in your "my computer" now you're good to go.

Music is not workin

I jumped the gun on my earlier advice - the format function was not on this particular Sansa. Go to the Settings Menu of the Sansa and change the USB Mode to MSC mode or MTP mode - whichever one it is on now, change it.

E250

SETTING USB MODE
1. Select Settings menu in Main Menu.
2. Select USB
3. You can select AutoDetect or MSC mode.
Note: AutoDetect will default to MTP mode. The MTP mode supports Windows Media Player 10 only.
You must use the MTP mode to synchronize music files using Windows Media Player 10 for the optimal
system performance.

Changing from MTP mode to Autodetect mode from the computer?

You're pretty much screwed that way because the way to change the USB mode on the device is actually in the mp3 player's firmware, you'd have to navigate to the settings and somehow make your way to the USB setting. Sorry about your luck.
