I need to unbrick a bricked PSP 2000 as power failure during upgrade caused bricking

"Brick" means corrupting your Firmware, the system that makes your PSP run. Bricking can be caused by either "interrupted update of firmware" or attempt to install "PSP Hacks" also known as Jailbreaks or Custom Firmware (CFW).
Some PSP Models can be revived when bricked by using a system called "Recovery Menu" which becomes available when the PSP was running a CFW before it bricked. Another way of unbricking a PSP including those that runs Original Firmware is using Pandora Battery and a Magic Memory Stick.
However, there are PSP MOdels that cannot be unbricked. These are the PSP 2000 Slim that have the Motherboard TA088v3 and other higher end. The worst PSP Motherboard is the TA088v3 because once bricked, PSP becomes a lovely paperweight without game functions and possibility to be revived.

BRICKed PSP is a state where its firmware (or system) no longer functions due to corruption either because of hack attempt or interrupted update of firmware. Depending on your PSP model and Motherboard, unbricking can be possible and (worst) impossible.
If you can give me the following, I may be able to help you.
1.) PSP Make (Slim or Phat) 2.) PSP Motherboard/Mainboard 3.) Last CFW installed before it bricked

You may also try doing this to unbrick you PSP.
1. Remove your battery from the PSP. 2. Put back your battery and charge it (to make sure it won't shut down while doing this) 3. Press "R" and hold it and switch on your PSP, if this fail, repeat 1 & 2 and try number 4 4. Press "R" and "L" and hold it and switch on your PSP.
If your PSP boots on Recovery Menu, you can unbrick it and play with it again.

If you have used pandora battery and MMS correctly, I think you got the TA088v3 PSP Motherboard. It's unhackable and is Pandora proof. To date, no procedure is known to unbrick these kinds of PSP MoBo. Others have tried replacing their MoBo and other send it back to S0ny and pay bucks for its replacement.
If you believe you got the non TA088v3, you might be missing few of the procedures in Pandora unbricking. You may also check your MMS and re-create it.

If you have a PSP 1000 or 2000 with a non v3 motheboard you can buy a pandora battery and unbrick it.If you have a 3000 or a Go the only way is going Sony.

It is probably bricked.

If you bricked your PSP the only solution I know is that a pandora battery should unbrick it. I have heard of Chickenhen but I have not used it. The pandora battery claims that it can unbrick any broken psp. The batteries are not that expensive usually under 25 bucks, which might not be a bad fix for a 169 dollar piece of hardware. The instructions on how to use it come with the battery and they do have tutorials on their website. hope this helps

Sounds like your PSP is bricked. Did you do any firmware upgrades recently? If it goes wrong, that will brick your PSP. Just google "pandora's battery" and you will find the unbricking method your can have a psp repair service do it for you.
