Television display i bought a samsung lcd tv 16 months ago. it went out badly cause all of the sudden the display turned to black out but the audio is still working...what would be the particular part of my tv that caused this inconvenience
This normally causes by failure of power supply board. Some time it causes by failure of inverter board, in this case you can see the picture moving on the dark screen as it has no back light.

Black Screen come from three areas.
1- Power Supply Board
2- Inverter Board
3- Processing Board on the LCD.
Since the Power Supply Board was replace, it easy to troubleshoot where the problem. lies
If you cannot get the backlight, then its the inverter board.
If you can use a flash light on the TV screen and can barely see the images, then the problem is indeed the inverter board.
If you cannot see any images when using a flash light, then the problem comes from the LCD processing board.

WE took our T.V. to Gragal Electronics in Waterloo, On. and he was able to reset the settings within the tv and it only cost us $81.36 to have it fixed. Apparently other remotes can go in and corrupt the saved settings, which messes up your tv.
I had a problem with a Samsung 46 inch LCD and it had audio and dim light but no picture and found out that the logic board toward the top (inside tv) was bad and was no longer available and the only way to fix it was to get the entire display panel (the logic board came with it) It was not costwise to repair. Hope this helps.
If you are using a set top box this might be caused by turnig the box on at the same tie as you turn the tv on or slightly after you turn the tv on. If you are using compnent or HDMI inputs the set needs to see the signal as it is turned on to know what formt the signal is in.
