Check that the tank and the nozzle cover are properly installed. If the motor is running, it should be sucking. If it's not, there is a seal that isn't sealing

A belt may have broken, there are two which drive the rollers. Remove tank, turn over and have a look behind the brushes. Check the manual for how to find and replace.

Doesn't return the dirty water to the tank, after apply the water

My Bissel has been having problems sucking the dirty water back into the tank. It's like it works for half a dozen uses and then just stops working. After I turn it on and off for a couple of hours trying to troubleshoot the issues it just starts working out of the blue again and sucks up the dirty water. I know there is a yellow stopper that goes up and can stop the flow but that's down and not the issue here.
